A rats nest. Literally. Sulking episode or not, why did he let it get like this?
Brushing did nothing except get the knots out and make it look like a fluffy cloud, and a normal braid wouldn't work with it in that state. He cursed his mother further, for giving him the curse of curly hair. If only he took after his father, or had the in-between like Liu, he would at least look a smudge better. But no, he had thick curly hair that looked almost abnormal with his chestnut skin and vibrant green eyes.
He remembers his mother complaining all throughout his childhood about his appearance. She didn't like how different he looked from her. It was more eye drawing.
He sighed once he finally got it to be at least a little straighter and grabbed his hairspray, shaking lightly before spraying everywhere to keep it all in place.
With this finished, he lazily checked over his black tank, hidden mostly by his denim button up. Beneath it was the black baggy jeans with the hole on his right hip, held up by a spiked belt. He needs to do his laundry again, hence the boring state of his outfit.
Liu loved to make fun of him for dressing so plainly. He loved bright colors-- especially yellow. Compared to him, Jeffery was melancholy, as he preferred washed out blues and plain black.
A knock on the bathroom door forced him to open it, his eyes meeting the sight of his mother. She was beaming again, but had a subtle sneer under her eyes.
"Jane's here! And she's cute," She coyly says, and Jeffery hummed in acknowledgement, walking passed her.
"Have a good day, Mother..." "Have fun! Oh, don't forget your wallet, you don't want to make that sweet girl pay." "I got it." He stomped down the stairs, recognizing the silhouette of someone outside of the front door.
With a passive look, he opened the door, looking down through the ends of his hair at the girl.
Jane beamed, in a similar fashion to his mother. Her hair was straight and pristine behind her square ears, and her eyebags were hidden with neon blue eyeshadow. It matched well with her baggy pants. Her stomach was showing off beneath a tie-dye crop top, probably because of the warmer weather.
If her bright red hoop earrings didn't give off her love for color, her rainbow scribbled shoes would.
He was sure after this experience, he will strip all forms of color from his bedroom to cleanse himself.
"Jeffery! Long time no see," She laughed, her deeper and melotone voice completely contrasting her cheerful look. She looked just as tired as him, but he was sure that was a daily thing for her.
Jeffery exited the house, softly shutting the door as he thought up a reply." Hello, Jane... So, where did you want to go?" He wanted her to feel the disdain in his voice.
She smiled more softly," Just the rollerskating rink that I was talking about. Margaret thought it'd do you good to get out the house. Your mom's really nice!" "I know..."
They walked down the steps, Jane taking in his appearance again as if she was looking for something. Any crack in his security. Too bad he was a great actor.
He turned to her, smiling with a slight bite to it," When I met you, I didn't think you'd like rollerskating. You seem more like an art person." She smiled, surprised he was the first to break the silence as they turn the corner under her direction.
"Oh, yeah, I do like art too. But rollerskating is a major passion of mine. It's what me and my little brother bond over, have for years. Did... Does Liu like rollerskating?"
He's not dead Jane, no need to be so standoffish.
"No, he hates anything that involves balancing on something. Liu is more of a runner, and even that is a stretch." She giggled," Ah jeez, you two are classic with the sibling rivalry. Hey, I'm sorry about what happened. I would be devastated if my little brother was taken away... I don't believe that he did anything wrong, or anything though,"
