Chapter 51

Grabbing clean clothes, I headed into the bathroom and turned on the water then stripped out of my sticky clothes. As I waited for the water to heat up, I couldn't help but think of everything that had happened in the last several days. I had been stunned when Jin had brought up the idea of bringing Noah, the lonely koala hybrid child, into our family, but I was excited at the same time. Jungkook had gone to meet him the next day and had come home, thrilled from the fact that the little boy had taken to him right away. Jin had been full of smiles as he talked about how Noah had climbed right into Jungkook's lap, wanting his affection and attention. The more I thought about it, the more eager I became to bring the little one home to us, to give him a family.

I had been worried at first about what Y/N would think, about her feelings on bringing another hybrid into the house, but from the soft smiles on her face whenever he was mentioned, I could see she was just as happy about it as the rest of us. The smile on her face was nice to see especially since it had been not as bright after the incident with Sehun and Evie. From what Jin had told us all, Sehun had given Evie a job at the sanctuary, clearly wanting his mate nearby. Although I liked the doctor and respected him for the help he had given Jimin and me, I couldn't help but be angry about the way he had treated my female mate, the one who had been by his side all these years.

Two days after the incident, Y/N had sat us all down and mentioned that she had been thinking of asking for a transfer out of the emergency department and into Labor and Delivery. With tears in her eyes, she had explained that it was too hard to be around Sehun and Evie. We had encouraged Y/N to do what made her happy and within a couple of days, her transfer had been approved. From the way her shoulders slumped a little less, I could tell that it was a good change for her, a necessary change.

Part of me had felt envious about the way she was so broken up about Sehun, a little jealous that my mate would be so upset about someone else. However, when I voiced my concerns to Jin, he had given me a tender smile and reassured me that my feelings on the whole thing were normal, that it was normal to be jealous. He had also explained that Y/N was more upset about losing a friend, one who had been in her life for the last several years. Knowing he was right, I had pushed the feelings aside, knowing I would do whatever I could to make my mate feel better.

Dinner that evening had been a lighthearted affair, helping to lift some of the uneasiness that had been sitting heavy in my chest. After dinner, we had snuggled on the sofa for a movie and I had been relished in the attention from my human mate. She had snuggled into my side, her hands gentle and soft as they held mine and when it was time for bed, I had joined her in her room, along with Jungkook. Namjoon and Jin had gone into one room, Hoseok joining them, while Yoongi and Jimin had gone into another. Seeing the two of them go off together made me happy since it showed that things were better between them, something I had been hoping would happen since we moved in.

I was currently cuddled to one side of Y/N, while Jungkook was on the other, both of their faces relaxed in sleep. Although I was tired, my mind was too filled with racing thoughts, thoughts that wouldn't let me sleep, wouldn't let me rest.

"Tae? You okay honey?" Y/N's voice was quiet and when I looked over at her, I could see her eyes were open and focused on me.

"I'm sorry little mate. Did I wake you up?" I turned completely towards her, pecking her nose and running a hand over her side.

Y/N shook her head. "No. Kookie's dreaming about something over here and I woke up to him poking me."

When I looked at Jungkook, I noticed his hands were still, but then her meaning hit me. Ohh! That kind of poke. I tried not to laugh, but a little snort escaped my lips making Y/N giggle softly. I pulled her closer to me and her scent grew stronger. "Oh? Is that turning my little mate on?" Even in the dim room, I could see the blush on her cheeks and knew she was aroused. "It's okay little mate. I can take care of you."
