Chapter 34

"Come on Angelina it's been two months you need to open up" Steve says knocking on the door "I want to find him as much as you do" He continues "come on A, open the door" Venom says and I shake my head "come on you haven't slept and you haven't eaten properly since Bucky left. Steve can help you, you'll find him faster" Venom says, when I ignore him he growls loudly and takes over my actions forcing me to open the door to a very shocked looking Steve "Venom forced you to open?" He asks "yes" I reply clearly annoyed "come on" Steve says linking arms with me and dragging me to the meeting room, I sit down while the other avengers stare at me "are you okay?" Yelena asks "I'm sorry I haven't been around" I whisper "I actually just came back from a mission" she admits "good good" I say 

"How did you get her out?" Peter asks "Venom" I reply still annoyed "you being out is a good thing, did you know I haven't been allowed in a mission since you lost your memories? They just sent me back to Aunt May and made me focus on school" Peter complains, I tilt my head and glance at Mr Stark who gives me an innocent and awkward smile. Steve opens his mouth to speak but I clear my throat asking permission to talk which he grants with a nod "I have been doing a lot of research since Bucky left, I am not happy about this situation with Peter either. I'm guessing you guys have split the team in sending some to look for Draykov, other to look for Bucky while the rest remained focused on research like Mr Banner over there" I say, they all nod "seems like Draykov knows about Yelena awakening the Widows, it's why they took Bucky, clearly trying to find a leverage in this whole situation. What he doesn't know is that I am not with them anymore, last I heard Hydra was still spreading rumours that The Winter soldier and I were under their power which goes back to them taking Bucky whenever they wanted. They're pretending that we infiltrated the avengers to take you down from the inside which obviously isn't true" I say

"Except that the code words still worked on Bucky" Sam adds "which we are all surprised about, I looked into his eyes. He was gone and we need to bring him back and train him hard enough for those words to mean nothing" I say "Yelena, you and Nat should carry on with your widows mission. We need them on our good side too, Steve and I are going to take charge of the Bucky mission with the spider kid by the way" I say "that's all, I'll let you know what else I find out about this" I say, they all nod before heading out. I remain on my seat "you can't hide away anymore" Venom says "I know you think you can find him on your own and I know you even think you're responsible because of how you escaped back then" Venom says "that's not why I feel responsible, I let him walk away. I should've gone after him" I say "there wasn't much you could've done, Bucky wasn't himself at that moment which means he would've killed us in a heartbeat. He knows how to" Venom says, Steve walks into the room with a bottle of bourbon and two glasses

He sits down next to me and pours us some bourbon "we are going to find him and bring him home" Steve says lifting his glass, I grab mine and lift it so I can clink it onto his before downing it "but before, I need you to tell me what's going on in your mind" steve says "I should've gone after him" I say while refilling my glass "there was nothing you could've done in that moment, you need to understand that" Steve says resting his hand over mine, I stare at it for a few seconds "I have seen Bucky that way, and he didn't even remember his own name. It was like everything about him was gone, and he was just an empty vessel" Steve explains "it doesn't matter Steve, he never gave up on me when I lost my memory. He had hope that I would remember and when I didn't he pushed that aside and decided to hope for a better future for us. Even after you told him about us, he couldn't even blame you for trying coz he would too because that's just how much he loved me" I say "and I just let him walk away" I continue downing another glass

"He said that?" Steve asks and I nod "you still didn't let him walk away Angie, he left and you didn't have a choice. If he's in there somewhere he knows you're scattering the earth to find him the same way you have been doing the past two months" Steve says "he knows you would travel to the centre of the earth" Steve continues, I frown looking at him "the centre of the earth" I whisper "what?" He asks "we know all the Hydra bases around the world right? We have found the ones in Europe and in Latin America and in Asia" I ramble on "yeah I'm aware" Steve says still confused "where could someone hide a whole base and a very much wanted and loved winter soldier? In a place nobody would look?" I ask "in plain sight" Steve says and I smirk "in the centre of the earth" I say "they're hiding him underground" Steve says "where they kept me" I say with a smile

"Let's go get our Bucky. Suit up" Steve says with a smile
