*Chapter 18*
I removed my head from Jake’s shoulder and looked deeply into his eyes. My mind raced as I thought of something to say, before I could stop him Jake lightly pressed his lips to mine.
“Aella? Jake?”
I quickly pulled away from Jake.
“Embry I…” I started
“Don’t even start that, I thought you loved me as much as I love you dammit” Embry yelled
“Embry it’s not-“ Jake tried.
“You were my best friend Jake, you know she’s my imprint but you still kissed her.” Embry was furious
Embry’s eyes glowed in the moonlight. It physically pained me to see him hurt like this. It made me feel sick to know it was my fault.
“I trusted you… the both of you” Embry said. “I’m done, Aella, it’s over” he quickly turned and ran.
I felt an empty feeling in my chest. I prayed this was all a dream and I could wake up in Embry’s arms.
“Aella, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to just…”
“Don’t worry about it Jake, if I didn’t want you to kiss me I would have stopped you.” I said honestly
“But he’s your imprint?” he questioned
“I came out here tonight because I was thinking about breaking up with Embry.” I said
“What? Why?” Jake asked
“ I just feel my heart is somewhere else right now.” I explained.
Jake gave me a funny look.
“He’s trying to fix me, but I really just need to fix myself.” I said
“Aella, he’s meant for you. He’s only acting like that because you need it. He just wants you to be happy.”
“Even if it’s not with me right, isn’t that how imprinting works? He’ll be whatever I need and right now I need my space.” I said before storming off.
