The door bell rings and Elena goes to get it
"What is it?" Stefan asks
"An invitation" Elena says while opening the invite
"Please going the Mikaelson family this evening at 7:00 for dancing cocktails and celebration" Elena reads of the invitation
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?"Stefan asks
"Your an idiot" I say
"The original family"
"Not bad enough they're moving into town,now they want a housewarming gift" Damon says
"Wait there's a note on the back. Elena I think it's time that we finally meet. Esther" Elena says
"Well this has been fun but I need to go find Caroline and apologise for my absence yesterday" I turn towards the door and start to head out when Damon calls my name
"Addy"
"Hm?"I say turning to face him
"Happy birthday" I give him a small smile happy he remembered and then turn to leave

I was about to knock on the door but Aunt Liz opened it before I could
"Hey" I say
"Hi Mari. Caroline's in her room"
"how are you doing?" I ask and she tilts her head in confusion
"I know you and uncle Bill were separated but you did love him once and as far as I know you two were friends, so how are you?" I ask
"I'm good, but I should be asking you that"
"I don't mean this to be rude but I'm surprisingly fine. He definitely wasn't my favourite relative" she gives me a gentle smile before leaving
I walk to Caroline's room and knock on the door
"Hey Care?" I say while walking in. When I'm in the room I see a body shaped figure underneath the covers and hear sniffles coming out of it
"Hey, it's ok" I say whilst sitting down on her bed
"Where were you?" She says looking at me with tear stains on her face
"I called you like 50 times" she says her voice hoarse from crying
"Stefan had my phone. I had to go to some weird dinner arrangement, I'm sorry" I say looking at her sympathetically while she sniffs
"Look you can hit me or cry or shout at me, anything you wanna do, I'm here" I say scooting closer
"He's gone" her voice brakes I shift myself on the bed so I can hug her as she cried into my shirt. We stay like that for a while until she calms down a bit. We went through the photo album we had with her dad reminiscing about the memories we shared with him. We end up going to the grill and take out the menues to order food
"May I take your order birthday girl" He says with a big smile I order for me and Caroline already knowing what she gets and Matt leaves the table
"Oh my gosh I totally forgot it was your birthday. Why didn't you tell me?" Caroline asks
"I think your situation is more important than my birthday, considering it's not actually my birthday" I say
"How's it going with that. I mean like have you spoken to your dad since the last time" Caroline asks
"No, I don't think I ever want to" I say
"Does that mean I can insult him, cause I really hate your dad. He's an ass" Caroline says and we both giggle
