I sat quietly in the waiting room, thet told me that the sherriff would be here soon to take me to the police station.

They kept trying to reassure me, telling me that it would be okay.

No, no it won't be okay. The only other person I truly loved is gone, and it's all my fault. Does it sound like it'll be okay? I don't think so.

When the police got here, they told me to wait in the back of the cop car, i could hear the doctor and the sherriff talking about how I need to move in with someone, since all I had left was mom.

The only family I had left was Uncle John. No, not Uncle John. Uncle John is an abusive alcoholic. I can't live with him. After 15 maybe minutes, the sherriff came into the car.

"You can't send me to my uncle. please."

Then I remembered, hah, that's why I have a restraining order. I have a reason! When I was 11, I was with Uncle John for the weekend, and he pushed me down the sairs and then broke a bottle over my head. He was really drunk. I haven't seen him since.

All he replied with was "Hey, you might not have a choice."

I scoffed, "fine." with the thiught of the restraining order still in my head.

Once we were at the police station, I found that they were mentioning who I would have to live with, legally. They realized that I had a restraining order, so I guess Uncle John was not a option.

My last option was a foster home. yay.

They drove me to my "no longer" home. The sheriff's name was Ron, he told me to pack up all my important things and meet him in the car, he was nice.

I haven't spoken since we left the police station, and he respected that.

After I packed all my clothes, hygienic items, and more, I looked in my bed and saw my stuffed kitten. My parents gave it to me when I came home from the hospital when I was born. I grabbed it and stuuffed it in my full duffle bag.

I got into the police car and we drove off. I finally took my eyes off of my old home and never looked back.

He told me that we would be going to the foster center, not far from my old house and how it works, I started tearing up at the thought that i never actually said goodbye to momma. He kept on rambling on and on about how everything will work out.

I simply said "Somehow, i don't believe that."

He dropped me off at the foster home and I walked in. The foster care owner, Linda, said that they got me all "signed up" whatever that meant. There were other kids there. Some older, some younger.

They directed to me to my room, once i got all unpacked, I heard yelling from the stairs. I walked to the staircase and heard Linda

"Kids! Come down here, there is a visitor!! Be on your best behavior, as always." Linda shouted. You could tell that she generally isn't a lound person.

All the kids came from behind me and scrambled down the stairs, almost knocking me over. Looks like they were excited for whoever was here. I walked down and Linda had told me that there was a man and his son looking for a third family member.

My heart dropped. Was i even ready for this? Quiet, i'll just stay quiet and maybe they won't pick me.? I walked across the room and stood with my head down, I had no intention to look up, until I heard a familiar voice..

"Hello everyone, you may or may not know who I am, but that doesn't matther overall."

I looked up and saw Norman Reedus, the Norman Reedus, and Mingus, his son. He wasn't bad looking, i'll have to admit.

No other kids noticed who they were, it's like they've never seen these two in their life, wow. I honestly didn't have a problem standing emotionless, it was easy, considering i just lost my mother and got put into a foster home in one day.

"Welcome, welcome! It is a true pleasure to have you here, Norman and Ming.. Mingulas.? I apologize if I pronounced it wrong.."

I couldn't help but burst out laughing, along with Norman. Linda gave me the shut-up-you're-embarrassing-me look. I stopped laughing instantly.

Mingus rolled his eyes and said "It's M-i-n-g-u-s, thanks." He had a really nice voice, comforting almost.

He also looked at me and said "Hey, if you're going to be my sister, i'll get you back. It's not funny when people say my name wrong! I hate it!"

He was trying not to laugh, I could tell. It wasn't working.

All I said was "Okay, whatever you say, Mingulas." I giggled.

Norman looked at me, and only me the whole time and smiled. I felt kind of nervous/scared/excited at the same time. I mean, if they adopt me, i'll have an awesome da- I mean, "legal guardian" but it won't be the same without mom, but i'll have a brother! How cool!

"Okay you two, you can choose one or more child, feel free." Linda said with a fake smile.

Norman and Mingus both looked off the list of children and at the same time said "Lylah Fraser"

I stopped picking my nail polish and looked up wide-eyed,

"W-what? Are you serious.?"

They both nodded, Linda gave me that look again. I couldn't help but smile a bit.

All the other kids sighed and then Norman and Mingus went around and hugged everyone. They were about to hug me, but i sprinted upstair and grabbed all of my stuff, before they even got to me.

"Like we decided, we will only be choosing one child today and like Mingus and I both said again, we chose Lylah Fraser." Norman said under one breath. He and Mingus both looked at me and smiled, Mingus winked as well.

Well, I guess you could say that I had a pretty eventful day.
