Since the day I dog sat for Dak, we haven't really been in touch. Okay, I haven't really been in touch with him. It's nothing against him, he was really great that day. He promised he'd be quiet and he lived up to his word.

We drove around in silence for a while, then he went home once I was ready to get dropped off. He didn't pressure me into telling him what was on my mind, and I admired that.

But since my uncle informed me that my father had called, I haven't been myself. I've also been distant with him since my uncle pointed out that Dak and I look just like a couple.

I don't want to get attached to anyone ever again, not since... Ring! I then hesitantly grabbed my phone, assuming it was Dak calling and reminding me about the friends-giving he's hosting today; since the team plays on Thanksgiving day.

"Oh shit!" I said aloud as I read the name spread across the screen. Lucas.
