Chapter 2.

Percy's pov                                                                                                                             "Same as me." I say. He nods. "Soooo... What happened to you?" I ask him. He winces "Teresa, my foster lady, decided she had to try to 'chase the demons away'" He replies. I give him a questioning look. In reply he says "She whacked me with a broom until I was so scratched up and sore, I was nearly unconscious. Then she tried setting me on fire." I wince. (A/N Ironic, isn't it :p) "Ow dude! That has gotta hurt!" He nods. "It does. But I can't imagine getting stabbed feels any better." He replies. I shrug like its nothing, when we both know its not nothing.

"Are you sure this will work?" I ask Leo for the thirtieth time today. "Yes I'm sure! Now stop asking!" He says exasperated. I nod tentatively. "Ok, remember the plan?" Leo asks. I nod. "Okay, here comes the nurse. Be ready." He tells me. I nod again. The nurse comes up to me. "Well sweetie, you're ready to go home." She tells me. I nod. (A/N for all you people out there who don't know, nodding is yes, shaking heads is no.) "Okay. I'll go wait outside for my stepfather." She nods. "Okay dear." I couldn't believe she would let a twelve year old wait outside alone for their guardian! I hop out of bed, and when passing Leo's bunk I wink. (A/N in a friendly matter. I like Percabeth. This is not Lercy.) He grins and winks back. I pass through halls and waiting rooms. When I make it outside I go and hide in the bushes, hoping Gabe is too drunk too come for a while. After a bit, that feels like forever, Leo comes out. He looks around. He frowns and a look of betrayal crosses his face. "He left without me..." Leo mutters under his breath. I pop out and he lets out a girly scream. I laugh. He mock glares at me for a bit, then his face breaks out into a grin. "I thought you left without me." He tells me. "I wouldn't leave without you! You're my best friend!" I retort. He grins. We had only known each other for about a week and a half, but he was my best (and only) friend. Suddenly I see headlights. I recognize it as Gabes car. "Styx! Thats my stepdads car! Run!" I tell him. We burst out sprinting away from the hospital. Its dusk so its a bit harder to see than if it was daytime. I see Gabe exit his car.  He yells out "Where are you, punk?!" Me and Leo run faster. (A/N  Take that English teachers of the world!) He doesn't see us. The dusk is working in our favor. Even though its harder to run, its also harder to see people running away from you. I see more headlights flashing against us. Gabe sees and begins pursuit. Leo puts on another burst of speed. "That was -wheeze- Teresa -wheeze-" Leo pants out. "Gabe has seen us. -Wheeze wheeze- If he catches us, I get more 'fun time'" I cough out fearfully. Leo purses his lips.

Leo's POV.

I feel fear rise up in my chest, but I squash it down and say "I don't even know what Teresa would do, and I don't plan on finding out. Run faster." I tell him. By now, I'm running as fast as I can. I hear a thud behind me. I look to my side and see Percy. If Percy's here, what was that? Oh, wait. It might of been Gabe who fell. I want to look, but if I take my eyes off of what's in front of me for more than a few seconds, I'll probably fall too. I feel exhausted. We're at least a mile from the hospital now. I don't think anyone's chasing us now, so I slow down slightly so I can conserve strength for later. Percy sees and he starts slowing down as well. After a few more miles of tiring jogging (instead of running), I see a small hill. Its perfect for camping for a night. I'm to tired. But Therese had probably called the police by now. I keep going, now walking instead. I hate this life. I wish be in this mess. I take a deep breath. Only a few more steps, only a few more steps, only a few more steps.

When I open my eyes, I see two men and a woman. They are all missing one eye, instead an empty eye socket where it used to be. That's strange... I think. "Hey ma! Can we eat them yet?!" One asks. I shiver. Of course we walked into some cannibals cave. "No!" Snaps 'ma'. I feel a flush of relief. The relief is short lived. "We can't eat them without salsa!" She screeches. I see Percy tied beside me. His hair is upward, sort of like he was hanging upside down. Thats when I realize we're both upside down. I mentally curse. This is harder than it would be if we were right side up. Suddenly, I have an idea. A stupid idea, but an idea nonetheless. I grin.

A/N. I know its short, but I figured I'd give you guys a chappie before I headed off to Disneyland tomorrow. I might have a chapter prepared to be typed up in a journal when I get back. I'll be back in maybe a week? Anyway, Buh bye! Tiara123458
