TWO WEEKS LATER
We were supposed to come back from this mission with little to none of us being injured. But instead the only person who came back severely wounded was Elijah. I don't even remember what was happening around me when everyone else found the room where we were at.
I couldn't look at what the doctors were doing to treat Elijah and instead, I cried in Ryan's arms. I could tell Cass sat down next to us when I felt her reassuringly squeezing my shoulder. I found her hand and squeezed it as a small thank you.
When I heard my parents calling out for me, I remember my best friends helping me stand up before I walked into my parents arms. A hug from both my mamá and papá was one of the only things right at that moment that could make me feel better. My tears slowly stopped falling as I calmed down in their arms.
