Derek's eyes shifted to hers as he stared at her blankly before flickering back to Scott, who was stuttering like hell.

"I also don't know what happened to your sister. But I think I did something last night. I had a dream about - someone. But someone else got hurt. And it turns out that part of the dream might have actually happened."

"You think you attacked the driver?" Derek asked although it sounded more like a statement.

Yelena looked him up and down, trying to figure him out.

"Did you see what I did last night?" Scott asked defensively

Not a helpful tone, McCall, Yelena thought to herself as she crossed her arms and looked at the ground.

"No," Derek answered, before looking back at Yelena and giving her a look as if to say is this kid for real

Yelena pursed her lips and raised her eyebrows, silently telling Derek that she understood his frustration. Kids today she thought to herself.

Scott sighed exasperatedly, "Can you at least tell me the truth? Am I gonna hurt someone?"

Yelena rolled her eyes and groaned "Alright look, Scott is probably one of the most immature and idiotic people I know, excluding my brother, he's even worse-"

"Hey-" Scott exclaimed

"Shush, the adults are talking-" she told him as she put her hand out to quieten him before turning back to look at Derek, who had pressed his lips together to hide the surprised amusement that he felt "-but as you previously stated he wolfs out, it puts you all in danger, and yes your arrest is all his fault, but he needs a teacher, and you need your secret to stay a secret, soo-"

Derek pushed his amusement back and went back to his expressionless face "Look, I can show you how to remember. I can show you how to control the shift, even on a full moon. But it's not gonna come for free."

"What do you want?"

"You'll find out." He nodded, "But for now, I'm gonna give you what you want. Go back to the bus. Go inside. See it, feel it. Let your senses - your sight, smell, touch - let them remember for you."

"That's it? Just - just go back?" He frowned

"Do you want to know what happened?"

"I just want to know if I hurt him," Scott replied quietly.

Derek shook his head  "No, you don't. You want to know if you'll hurt her."

Scott looked at the ground sadly before sulking back to the car. Derek sighed and turned to go back into his house

"Hey, wait." Yelena called as she grabbed his arm to stop him but quickly let go as he raised his eyebrows looking at her hand and then back to her face, "Um, sorry. I just wanted to say, I'm sorry about your sister."

He gave her a firm nod before walking back inside his house. Yelena sighed as she went back to the car so she could drive Scott back to school.

"What?" She asked when she noticed him staring at her. He shrugged and buckled his seatbelt, making her roll her eyes, "his whole family is dead, Scott. Then you and Stiles had him arrested for killing his own sister, just so you could play a lacrosse game, and your apology was abysmal at best." She told him annoyed before starting the engine and driving him back to school.

"What do you think he wants from me?" He asked, breaking the silence

"I don't know," she sighed, "but you definitely owe him."

Scott went quiet again before pouting, "Do you really think I'm immature and idiotic?"

Yelena thought for a moment "I mean I also think you have a big heart, and always want to do the right thing. Kind of like a puppy."

Scott smiled to himself, not quite understanding the backhanded compliment.

Yelena wasn't sure how she got stuck on hospital duty while Scott and Stiles were in school. They were going to use Derek's advice to help recall Scott's memories, in the meantime someone had to keep their eye on the driver. She'd warned both boys that she couldn't hang around there all day, so one of them would have to come down later on. Yelena narrowly avoided Melissa before sliding into the driver's hospital room, taken aback by the sight in front of her. Derek Hale standing over the driver and talking to him, she was about to confront him when the life support machine started beeping. Derek spun around on the spot, eyes widening as he spotted Yelena standing there, he quickly rushed over to her and dragged them both outside before they could be seen and associated with his death. However, as far as Yelena was concerned, Derek was right in the middle of it and there was no way she could pretend otherwise this time.

"What are you doing here?" He growled as he slammed her against the wall, boxing her in.

"Me? What are you doing here? For someone who's not meant to be a killer, you seem to turn up whenever the bodies do." She countered

"You think I killed my sister?" He asked, with the corners of his mouth twitching up

"I didn't until I saw you kill that driver."

"I didn't kill the driver. It just happened."

He didn't say anything for a minute and just stayed pressed against her until she cleared her throat, indicating for him to take a step back, which he did.

"Lena, I didn't kill him. The alpha did."

"You think that's why Scott dreamt it? Because of the connection between him and the alpha? The leader of the pack?" She asked curiously

Derek raised his eyebrow at her in surprise at her knowledge, "I hadn't thought of it in that way, but yeah, it's possible."

"Well, considering you're meant to be the werewolf, shouldn't you be figuring this out." She huffed as she moved past him only for him to grab her wrist and spin her back around to face him

"You believe me then?" She frowned in confusion as he continued, "That I didn't kill him or my sister?"

Yelena raised her eyebrow at him, "Despite your shady and hostile personality, and you nearly breaking my spine by slamming me against a wall, I've seen no sign of any psychopathic behavior. So I believe you."

He nodded at her thoughtfully, looking around at the cars in the parking lot

"Let me give you a ride."

Yelena was surprised at his offer, and how polite his tone was, "No I'm good, my cars over there and I have a job interview anyway." She told him as she fiddled with her keys.

Derek raised his eyebrows, "Job interview?"

"Yes, you know a job, helps you make money." Derek smirked in amusement, angering Yelena "Why is that funny?"

"I just assumed you come from a warm nuclear family, where mom and dad take care-"

"Actually, my mom's dead." She cut him off.

Derek's eyes flashed with guilt, he opened his mouth to apologise, but she waved it off "Forget it, I need to get going." She told him as she walked to her car. Putting the keys into the ignition, she felt her heart pounding hard through her chest, her mom was one thing she never talked about, not with anyone not even Stiles or her father. Yelena took a deep breath as she texted Stiles to tell him about the bus driver before starting up her car and driving down to her interview at the video store.
