Heart broke in two at the letter sitting in front of you.
The teacher tells you it's just a C, that you have nothing to worry about.
But you worry. you worry because you have failed. In your eyes this is failure.

Your eyes deceive you. This is far from failure.
This is what many are pining for,
Yet here you sit, eyes welled up, ready to burst.

You plead for the ringing of the bell to play its song in your ears.
You need to get out of here before it becomes too much.
Crying in front of the whole class is not something you hope for.

You can't succeed in what the teacher has considered 'easy'.
This feels like the begging of the end.
You have managed to convince yourself that this is what your future entails.

Congratulations, you've done it.
You've manifested this failure;
a long and painful future that leads nowhere.
