It's been 7 months since Rossi's and Esme's first birthday is coming up in a few days. You and Spencer wanted to do something small but Penelope insisted on having a party.
"She won't even remember it Pen." You said while sitting on her desk.
"Doesn't mean you can't do it." Penelope replied.
"Fine but you're doing most of it." You said.
"YAY!" She exclaimed pulling you into a hug.
You laughed and she pulled back.
"I can't wait. Now go I have to plan." Penelope said shooing you out of her bat cave.
You walked back into the bullpen and headed to the break room for some coffee. You felt arms snake around your waist and a kiss get planted on your neck. You smiled and leaned back into him.
"Hi beautiful." Spencer said.
"Hey." You replied.
"I haven't seen you much today. You alright?" He asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine." You said turning around to face him with a smile.
"No you're not. You're talking in short sentences. What's wrong?" He pushed.
"Esme is going to be a 1 year old in 3 days and I don't think I'm ready for her to be that old." You said sadly.
"I know lovey. It feels like just yesterday we were meeting her for the first time. At least we can spend time with her just the three of us on her birthday." He said.
"Yeah...about that." You said looking down at the ground.
"What happened?" He asked concerned.
"Penelope is throwing Es a party. I tried to stop her but she just kept going and going. I'm sorry. I know you wanted a small thing." You replied.
Spencer laughed before pulling you into a hug.
"Hey. It's okay. She'll love it. Es will like that we are there and Penelope will like that she got to plan a party." He said with a slight laugh.
"Yeah. I guess." You said hugging him back.
Time Skip Esme's birthday came faster than you thought it would. The past 3 days flew by and Penelope wouldn't tell you anything about what she had planned. The only thing she told you was to be at Rossi's at noon today.
You woke up around 10:00 and before Esme this morning. You rolled over to face Spencer. He smiled at you and you smiled back.
"Good morning sleepy head." He said quietly with a laugh.
