Chapter Sixteen

I wake up the next morning around 10. I take the pain killer I left on my table and drink it down with water. I get up to use the bathroom and once I come out I see the envelope that Luna slipped under my door sometime this morning before class.
I pick it up and sit down in bed to look through the pictures from the party.

On the backs of each photo, Luna wrote names along with small descriptions.

This was taken a while back but only got it developed with the rest.

I remember this day. It was our first week back at school. I was helping Professor Snape organize our bookshelf. Luna called out and told me to pose. At the time i didn't realize he was behind me until afterwards and we all started to laugh. My heart sinks with the realization that I won't get another picture with him. As much as it hurts to look at, I slip this picture into an empty frame and place it on the table next to my bed.
Professor McGonagall was informed about the events that happened on Saturday and allowed me today to rest and calm my mind before returning to classes tomorrow. I make myself a cup of lavender tea with a tablespoon of honey to soothe my dry throat. I find a record and slip it onto my player. Soft music fills my room as I open a window, allowing the cold autumn air to come inside. The gentle patter of rain adds to my relaxation.
I sit in bed, reading from a textbook.
I can slowly feel the derealization slowly creeping up on me. Instead of fighting it, I greet it with open arms.
