Tala was peacefully sleeping on her childhood bed when she heard her phone ring. She tossed to the other side and ignored it. She usually was like this and the person calling would just give up.
But this time, the person didn't stop. She groaned and hid under her blanket and pillow. She was starting to drift off again despit the constant ringing but her door opened and the light was turned on.
Her blanket was pulled off and as well as her pillow. "What the fuck?" she asked as she turned over and saw her sister glaring at her. "What?" Tala asked upset that her sleep was ruined.
Sinag groaned and rubbed her eyes as she grabbed her phone from her bedside table and threw it at her sister. It landed on her face making the older Reyes groan. "Answer your damn phone. We're not in North Carolina anymore." She groaned and walked out of the room.
Tala sighed and answered the call which coincidentally was a face time. She rubbed her eyes and sighed, "Hello?" she answered groggily as she threw a slipper at the light switch, with years of practice she had aim and got the life to turn off.
"Luna?" Karl's voice echoed. She let out a small breath, "Yeah?" she muttered. "Wait were you asleep?" he asked guiltily. Tala hummed and turned so she can prop her phone on the night stand.
As she did, she saw Karl's face. It was morning where he was, clearly not at home but rather outside. She can hear the multiple voices of Jimmy, Chris and Chandler. She looked at Karl and smiled.
"What is it?" she asked tiredly. He frowned, "I'm sorry I can let you go back to sleep-" "No it's fine Sol." She cut him off. He sighed, "I forgot about timezones it's 3 pm here and there its..." he trailed watching her as she snuggled up into her bed under her blanket.
"3 am." She whispered. His shoulders sagged and shook his head, "I can let you go back to sleep." He offered. She let out a chuckle as she heard his worried voice. She always found it adorable how he worried for her no matter how many times she said that she had done it multiple times, she had a routine and Karl was changing it, for the better that is.
"It's fine. What did you want?" she asked softly. Karl still looked at her worriedly and she laughed. Moving closer to the phone she smiled, "Go on Sol. Just tell me." She said. Karl huffed and walked around.
"I was gonna show you this." He said as he lifted his phone for Tala to see the multiple colored balloons. She could still see the excitement in Karl's eyes. She let out a chuckle and grinned at him, "Those are some balloons you've got there." she said.
He chuckled and nodded, "Yeah we're using them for a video but we're waiting for Tucker so he can see the balloons." He said. She smiled, "I would love to see that." She muttered.
They stared at each other in peace, despite not having to have met in person, it was still harder in different time zones. "Luna." Karl muttered. She hummed and he tilted his head, thinking the words through.
"Do you think maybe, when you get back, you think maybe we could you know." He stuttered. Tala furrowed her eyebrows and hummed, "What do you mean?" she asked clearly still drowsy from being woken up.
Karl sighed, "I mean when you get back do you maybe we could, I don't know meet up?" he asked nervously. Tala's mouth gaped at his words. Karl's heart beating fast as he waited for her response. He was nervous the answer whether it was a yes or no.
Tala breathed in and out as she watched the worry cross over his face. "Sol..." she whispered. He nodded, not trusting his words, she smiled slightly, "I would love to."
