"Well down, Ellía." Gandalf whispered and placed a gentle squeeze on her shoulder to let he know she could stop. She opened her eyes and smiled once she saw the crescent moon. "How did you do that?" Bilbo whispered as he came to stand by her. "Magic." she replied with a cheeky grin and stood up.

"Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks and the setting sun with the last light of Durin's Day will shine upon the key-hole." Elrond read as the moon runes shined brightly. "Durin's Day?" Bilbo asked. "It is the start of the Dwarves' new year. When the last moon of autumn and the first sun of winter appear in the sky together." Ellía answered absentmindedly as she continued to look at the runes, missing the stage looks from the dwarves. "She reads a lot." Elrond said quietly with a shrug.

"This is ill news. Summer is passing. Durin's Day will soon be upon us." Thorin said as he stepped forward. "We still have time to find the entrance. We have to be standing in the exactly right spot at exactly the right time. Then and only then, can the door be opened." The older dwarf said.

"So this is your purpose, to enter the mountain?" Elrond spoke up. "What of it?" Thorin challenged. "There are some that would not deem it wise." Elrond warned as Ellía timidly stepped up to Thorin and held the map out to him. He quickly took it back and gave her another cold look, which she was sadly getting used to.

"What do you mean?" Gandalf asked worriedly. "You are not the only guardian to stand watch over Middle-Earth." Elrond told the wizard before turning to Ellía. "Would you please show out guests the way back?". Ellía said yes as she smiled at the dazed wizard. She gave the Gandalf's hand a gentle squeeze before turning to the other three. "Master dwarves, Master Baggins." she said with a slight bow of the head and began to head down the staircase.

Bilbo hurried after the elf and the dwarves followed behind him. They walked in silence for a bit, until Ellía looked at the older dwarf and said, "I know both of their names, but have not been honored to hear yours, Master Dwarf." She said with the sweetest smile she could muster. The older dwarf look at her surprised and his cheeks warmed once he saw he had her undivided attention.

"Um, It it Balin, my lady." He said with a slight bow of the head. She returned the gesture and said quickly, "Please, no need for that. Ellía is just fine." Balin gave her a quick smile before looking back ahead. A few moments later they arrived at the entrance to the Dwarves' chambers, and heard laughter from inside. "I apologize for the noise, lassie." Balin said sheepishly as Thorin just grunted and went inside. "It is no problem at all, Mater Balin. If you should need anything while you are in Rivendell, please, do not hesitate to ask me." She said with a smile.

Ellía had awoken early the next morning and hurried to the pastures to retrieve Radag. The two had a lovely morning ride through the dewy valley and finally picked up her abandoned basket of wildflowers. With a simple wave of her hand, the once wilted flowers returned to the their lively and vibrant colors.
