(Rimuru's Perspective)

Approximately six weeks has passed since our first arrival at this new land. No more spies or investigators had come to investigate during these past weeks. We don't use illusion magic anymore to cover this town.

The last people we know came would be those three idiots, which I'm sure you know who I mean, who came to investigate the cave about three weeks ago.

But I think it's not the time yet for us to meet them. We will wait until their second visit, if their Guildmaster sends them again in the future like in the Old Dimension. It's very likely to happen knowing how that man is.

Anyway, let's talk about the town.

Everyday sustenance collected by the food-gatherer team is always more than sufficient for all citizens.

All houses the citizens need have been built, so have the key buildings for our town such as Town Hall and Reception Hall. All roads have been paved.

Garm's team and Dord's team have done a very great job, too. All citizens now have decent clothes to wear.

The (pseudo-)septic system has been completed a long time ago. The water system also has been finished several days ago, ready to purify water from the river and distribute it to whatever building it is connected to.

This town has around two hundred houses. Some of the them are houses for a whole family, which can consist of three or even four children, while some of them are for a single person. All orphaned children, who lost their parents before we became their masters, are being taken care of by several single people who volunteer themselves.

For this town which started to be built far lower in scale compared to our Old Tempest, which had more than a thousand houses, the development can be said to be quite slow. Well, that was no wonder because we currently didn't have the high orcs as our workers. Because in the end of the day, the high orcs have essentially more physical strength and stamina. But it's nonetheless been completed, so it's all good.

I stroll around the town together with Ciel, holding her hands as usual. While we seem to be walking around for relaxing, we are not. We are observing our freshly-completed town, checking the condition of our citizens and ensuring that the systems we have built are working properly as we previously planned.

I am currently thinking about our future as a full-fledged country.

Three traditional basic needs: food, shelter, and clothing; and additionally, sanitation, at least have been solved. Time to think about other crucial things our citizens will need the most.

I pass through a group of hobgoblins sitting below an open tent, listening to Garm who is explaining something in front of them.

Learning... and teaching....

Students... and teacher....

It was said that after Japan gave up in the World War II, the very first thing Emperor Showa (Hirohito) asked to the surviving generals was not about how many soldiers were left. Instead, he asked about how many TEACHERS were left.

These were his words: "We have fallen, because we do not learn. If we cannot learn, how would we be able to catch up with them. Then gather all remaining teachers, because on them are we going to rely, not on the troop strength."

I don't know whether it's true or not, since I couldn't get that many reliable references from the internet back then. But if a Japanese emperor like him, which was believed (not by me) to be the descendant of Goddess Amaterasu Omikami, actually said something like that, then it means that teachers truly are valuable assets for a country; even more valuable than an army.
