"Actually, Master.... I want to talk about something."

Huh? That's it? "Are you saying that you dragged me to this inn all the way around because you want to have a talk?"

My mind has flown to the outer space when she booked only one room for two people. But it seems, what I thought are all false.

"W-well, I want to talk with Master personally in a private place where no one can see us."

Fair enough. I did say that she can ask me anything, didn't I? So, it's partly my fault if "that" really happens.

"I see." I let out a loud sigh. "So, what do you want to talk about?"

"That cake... was it really 'special for me'?"

Why did she suddenly ask that? "Y-yeah, I guess so."

I think I blurted it out very clearly. So, she should have understood that it really was special for her right? Did I act like it was intended for another purpose? Did I look like I was not genuinely doing it?

She looks straight to my eyes. "When I was asked to accompany you in person, when I was given Raiga, and when we were going here using the wolves instead of [Teleportation] or [Space-Time Manipulation], were those also 'special for me'?"

Why did you have to ask that, Ciel? Are you really doubting me?

I nod my head.

"I see," she says. "I want to know, why should Master bother to do all of those?"

Huh? "Ciel, what do you mean by 'bother to do'?"

"Master has no need to do those. I do not need any special treatments to be happy. I exist only for your sake. I will do anything as you wish. As long as I am still your Partner, I will always be happy. Master does not need to do anything in return."

HUH?

'Do not need any special treatments'?

'Exist only for your sake'?

'Master does not need to do anything in return'?

We're partners, Ciel... not master and servant... master and skill.

What kind of partner am I if I don't do anything for you?

How could you....

"I'm really disappointed with you, Ciel," I say with a disappointed face.

"Eh?" She widens her eyes with a shocked expression. She must've not expected me to say those words right in front of her face. She must be thinking, Master is disappointed with me? Where did I possibly do wrong? Am I useless? or something like that.

"Ciel, are you not feeling happy when I gave you something special? Is that what you mean?"

"N-no. I'm just u-um—"

"Ciel"—I hold her shoulders firmly with my own eyes looking deeply into her gleaming red eyes—"I don't want to hear those words coming out from your mouth EVER AGAIN!"

I understand her way of thinking. I understand that if I straight out say that I want to give her something special, she will reject and simply say, << I do not need anything in return. I exist only for your sake, >> or something like that.

That's why I hide my true intention under the disguise of the so-called request.

I want her to feel a different form of happiness, that is a happiness from being given, not a happiness from giving.
