"I can read," I say turning to him. "Maybe you can't read, four eyes."
"Clearly better than you can," he shakes his head.
"Triceratops," I read off the wall. "See, I can read."
"That one there," he points. "Read it."
"That's just a fancy turtle," I say.
"Read the fancy turtles name then," he says.
"No fair, that's like the hardest thing to pronounce," I say.
"Or you're just stupid," he says.
"What am I going to get out of this anyway?" I ask. "Hmm?"
"Allaeochelys," he says. "That's how you say it."
"Run that by me again," I say.
"Allaeochelys," he says, slowly this time.
"Stupid name," I scoff.
"So you can't say it," he shakes his head.
"Okay, and?" I ask. "At least... At least my names not..."
"Here," he quickly scribbles out his name on a scrap piece of paper. "Read it."
"Tsukishima... Oh no fair," I say. "You can read your first name two different ways."
"It is fair, it's my name," he scoffs. "So?"
"Hmm..." I pause. "What do I get if I pick the right one?"
"Nothing," he shrugs.
"Then I don't want to play," I say.
"You'll get a conversation," he says. "If that's what you're here for."
"What are you here for... Kei?" I ask.
"Guess you won," he says. "What made you go with that one?"
"Don't know," I shrug. "You just look like Kei I guess, a Tsukishima Kei."
"Hmm," he nods his head.
"So what brings you to the museum?" I ask. "You tryna pick up a girl?"
"Maybe," he shrugs. "But one that could read."
"I can read," I say.
"Mhm," he nods his head. "Totally."
"You are terrible at picking up girls," I say. "Garbage."
"I'm not trying to pick up girls," he scoffs.
"Well you clearly are, so I think I should tell you that I'm fifteen years old," I say looking up at him.
"Oh, I... Um, I'm sorry," he says. "I... I should-."
"Proof you were tryna pick me up," I laugh. "You wouldn't have gotten all weird like that. Oh, I'm definitely not fifteen."
"I..." he pauses again.
"You want to see my ID?" I ask to which he stays silent. "Here."
I shake my head, handing him my ID.
"Not fifteen," he nods his head, handing my ID back.
"So what?" I ask. "You're like thirty?"
"I am not thirty, I'm the same age as you," he says.
"So... You tryna pick up girls the same age as yourself?" I ask rolling back onto the heels of my feet.
"You are terrible at trying to pick up guys," he says. "it's kinda sad."
"Hey, I came here looking for a date," I say. "And instead of talking to my date, I spook to you."
"And who is your date?" he asks, quirking a brow. "Did you get stood up?"
"Well he doesn't know that we're going on a date," I say. "So it's fine."
"Great, of course, I had to talk to the crazy one," he shakes his head.
"I'm not crazy," I say.
"So who is this you're stalking?" he asks.
"I am not stalking," I say. "I've never even seen him before, I just heard he like dinosaurs and that he used to go to school with some guy named Kageyama."
"Weird," Tsukishima shakes his head.
-fives months later-
"So you were the guy I was supposed to be stalking all those months ago," I say smoking his arm.
"Did I miss something?" Kageyama asks.
"You went to school with Kei?" I ask.
"Yeah," he nods his head. "What about it?"
"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.
"Because," Kei says. "I didn't have to."
"Hoe," I say shoving his arm.
"Hey, calm down," he says taking my hand. "Don't need to argue before I meet your parents right?"
"Yeah, whatever," I say.
School is shit and I'm behind lol. Hate my life at this moment.
