Chapter 33: Fireworks

3rd person's POV

Kise groaned for the nth time this afternoon

"What the hell's your problem Kise? You've been sighing and groaning since this morning" Aomine complained

Kise, Aomine, and Momoi are currently in a cafe. Kise pouted and huffed

"Nothing," He said

He remembers what happened the night when he confessed to Akemi

-flashback-

"I...I like you Akemicchi" Kise confessed, blushing

Akemi paused but smiled at him

'That means this is going the right way right?' Kise thought positively

"I like you too Kise," She said

Kise grinned, his face was completely red. He was about to ask her to be his girlfriend but Akemi had other plans

"As a friend right?" She asked

"W-What?" Kise looked at her dumbfounded

"You like me as a friend"

Akemi asked, looking at Kise expectantly

"Oh...yeah," Kise said and forced a smile. He felt like his world just shattered along with his heart and his head was filled with the words "As a friend"

What he didn't know was Akemi was also hurting since she thought that Kise will deny what she said and will say he likes her romantically instead

The two of them thought that the other thinks of them as a friend which resulted in the two being down

Kise sighed again as he remembered what happened last week

"Kise if you sigh one more time I'll kill you" Aomine threatened

"Don't be mean Dai-chan!" Momoi scolded "What happened Ki-chan?"

Kise sat straight up and leaned his head on his hand

"Nothing really," He said and sighed

Since it was summer break, they couldn't see each other every day, and considering what happened, none of them dared to initiate a conversation

"Let's go karaoke to cheer you up Ki-chan!" Momoi said and dragged the two boys outside the cafe

As Momoi was hurrying to get to the karaoke lounge, she bumped into someone making the two of them fall

"O-Ouch" Momoi said

"Be careful Satsuki!" Now it was Aomine's time to scold Momoi while helping her up

"Ah!" Momoi said and looked at the person she bumped into

"Aren't you Mi-chan!?" She said

"Y-Yes?" Akemi said looking at Momoi

"Momocchi! Aominecchi! Why'd you leave me?!" Kise whined and ran towards the two, but stopped when he saw Akemi

"Akemicchi" Kise muttered

Akemi looked up and saw Kise, the two of them stared at one another

Momoi and Aomine looked at each other

"Nice timing Mi-chan!" Momoi interrupted their staring contest "Why don't you join us?" She asked excitedly

"She may be busy Momocchi"
