CHAPTER 62 - HARRY'S LAST FIGHT

Start from the beginning

"I know," Harry said. "Draco always said that about you two, too. We both knew you'd be right together. According to Draco, since Third Year, but I knew there was something there when you two met on the train when we were eleven. I told Draco that I was surprised that you hadn't gotten together sooner."

"Me too." Ron couldn't help but grin with warmth on his face, but then he licked his lips. " Do you think we're rushing?"

Harry smiled. "You've known her for so many years. You've seen all of her flaws and she's seen yours. You know you work well together. And you had experience with Lavender so you know what doesn't work for you. I think if you're both ready, why the hell not? Who knows what's going to happen in our lives? I never thought any of this. We should be doing what we want to do with no regrets."

"You're right." Then he sighed. "I wanted to give it to her for Christmas. She loves Christmas."

Harry couldn't help but smile. "That'd be great."

"Awesome. But, we're meant to go get lunch together as a couple. Are you okay with that? You can tag along if you'd like."

Harry's heart felt a little ping, but it didn't bother him too horribly. He understood. He just wanted to have a nice lunch with his own boyfriend, but he knew that wouldn't happen. "That's okay. I was thinking of heading back to Hogwarts anyway, just wanted to do a bit of shopping for potions."

"You're sure?"

"Yeah. Go enjoy your time."

"As long as it doesn't make you feel left out."

"It's sweet you're thinking of me. But no, really. It's fine." He did feel left out, but then again, how many times did he and Draco go enjoy something and Ron and Hermione didn't even know about? It was the nature of friendships and couples. And Ron and Hermione were moving on from the war. It was great. Harry wished he could do the same.

"Please, if you change your mind let me know."

"I will."

"Okay, so how do we distract her?"

"Leave her in a bookshop," Harry suggested. "She's simple, isn't she?"

"But I need you as well. I need your help to pick it out."

"I'll ask her to search for memory loss books. It'll take her ages," Harry shrugged. "Then I'll sneak out."

Ron nodded.

Wow. Something to do beyond think about Draco (which he still did all the time).

But Harry had forgotten that he was a celebrity now, more than before. Hogsmeade was packed. Parents with their children pointed at him, teenagers, adults, even the elderly, all were surprised by him. Gasps came as he entered a shop, and left, whispers which weren't really whispers.

"Merlin, that's Harry Potter!"

"He's shorter than I thought?"

"He beat You-Know-Who? He's so tiny."

"Oh, Merlin! I want his autograph!"

Harry did his best to ignore them all, but he wasn't really operating at his strongest emotionally, was he?

They executed their plan when Harry gave Hermione the biggest puppy dog eyes. "Maybe they have the book that contains the spell that will fix him and then I'll be able to cast it without him even knowing. He won't have to go to St. Mungo's."

"I don't really think that's possible but—"

"We're soulmates, though! Maybe if there's a book on that. Please. If you help me this morning, I'll go back to Hogwarts so you and Ron can go on your date."
