Chapter 21

At the hospital Mercedes is taken away and your made to wait in the family room for her. The panic running through is too much, you know nothing. It's been 3 hours and you haven't heard a word from anyone! What the hell?! Why?!

4 hours! You walk to the reception desk
"Please I need to know what is happening with my wife"
"What's her name sir?"
"Mercedes Downey"
She types on her computer
"There's no update on here sir I'm sorry if you would like to take a seat I will call someone to see if they can come update you" you nod your head at her and walk back to the room. The phone rings but it's Mercedes phone you pull it out and it's Bella you push ignore not wanting to even speak to that kid!

"Mr Downey?" The doctor, you jump up
"Yes please is she okay?"
"She's recovering I want to apologise for not sending someone down here, the bleeding got worse she suffered a placenta rupture and we had to preform an emergency C-Section"
"You've delivered the baby?"
"We have, your son is up in the NICU ward having the best care, he's fine. Your wife is still unconscious, right now they are closing her up and she will be brought into recovery"
"Is she okay now?"
"Yes she will be. It's gonna be another hour or so until you can see your wife but if you'd like to meet your son then I can take you now"
Meet our son without Mercedes, would she hate me? I need to see that he's okay? Do I do this ?
"Mr Downey would you like to see your son?"
You nod your head at him "yes please"
He smiles at you and leads you to the ward where your son is.
"He's right through here" he pushed the door open and you walk through and there is plastic box lies your beautiful little boy "he's so small!"
"He is on the smaller side but he's completely fine sir he's just have some nutrients put into him right now, when these are finished you can hold him"
"Thank you so much"
"I'll give you some time, if you need anything just press the button right here"
"Thank you, can someone call me when my wife is brought up to her room"
"Of course sir" she walks out of the room and you sit there with your son, putting your hand through hole you place your hand on your son and this is the moment that you know what true love really is, you have had so much love for Mercedes but the love for this little boy right here is so crazy it's so big so scary. Your a daddy.

You must have fallen asleep because you feel an arm on your shoulder shaking you awake
"Mr Downey" your eyes open and you see the doctor
"Is everything okay?"
"Your wife is awake, she's asking for you" you smile
"She's okay?"
"Yes and she wants you to go to her"
"Okay what about our son?"
"He's fine here"
"She's gonna wanna meet him can we bring him?"
"I'll grab a nurse now to bring the crib to the room, we have placed her in a private suite like you requested"
"Thank you"
You stand up and stand near the door "please can you bring him down straight away please"
"Of course I will do it right now you head off to your wife" you nod your head at her and walk out of the room with the other nurse taking you to Mercedes room.

Mercedes POV

You just need to see them, see Rob holding your son to know that they are okay.
"You know your up there with the superheroes today right?"
His beautiful face stands in your doorway and your eyes fill with tears at his words
"My beautiful wife gave me a beautiful son and I couldn't be more complete right now"
"How is he?"
"They're bringing him down to you, I asked them if they can set him up here. He's beautiful Mercy so beautiful"
"I can't wait to see him"
"He's you Mercedes looking at him, is like looking at you"
You smile at his words you just need to see him.

"Mr & Mrs Downey here's your baby"
The nurse pushes in the cot and you see his tiny little figure in the box
"He's finished having the nutrients as of right now so you'll be able to hold him"
You nod "can I have him now?"
"Of course" she gently picks up your son and passes him to you
"He's so tiny, look at him Rob"
"He's so perfect"
"He's you Rob! Everything about him is you"
"You think?"
"Yeah I can see it"
"So what are we gonna name him?"
"Robert Downey Jr Jr"
"I think it's Robert Downey the third"
"Nah I like Jr Jr, it reminds me of friends"
He laughs at you "Robert Downey Jr Jr it is"
"We will call him Robbie, he's so much like his daddy that he deserves his daddy's name"
"My dad would have loved it"
"I wish he would have had the chance to meet him"
"So do I"

You spend the next few hours holding your baby and being a little family.

"This is perfect right?"
"Of course my beautiful wife my beautiful son, nothing could ever ruin his ever"

"Not that I want to ruin this day but Rob I can't go back to that house not with him, we don't know who it was"
"It's fine I understand I'll have someone go collect everything we need and take it to the hotel"
"Thank you"
"Your gonna be in here for a few days so I'll make sure it's all sorted"
"Thank you Rob I know it's your home"
"We will find something else something better. A new home for the three of us"

Rob places Robbie in the cot and the nurse comes to take him back to NICU and you shift yourself over so Rob can join you on the bed "let's just snuggle please"
"Anything for you"
"I love you Robert Downey Jr"
"I love you too Mercedes Downey"
