Chapter 33

"Are you sure that you want to go to the hospital already? Aren't you tired from the flight?"

I lowered my head and started fidgeting my fingers. We just came back, and yet I suggested to Yael to go straight to the hospital to know my mom's condition. I want to see it myself even though I'm going to encounter my family. I don't know if Lorelei and Paris are already there, but I'm sure that as soon as Yael said to me what happened to my mother, Lorelei got the message as well. They must be in a hurry also.

"Saglitan lang naman ako du'n. I'm just going to check how's my mom doing, and after that, I'm going to check in to a hotel," I replied.

"Bakit sa hotel kung puwede naman sa bahay ko? Welcome naman kayo du'n ni Rianne." Tumingin ako sa kanya habang nagmamaneho siya. Nasa thirties na siya pero wala pa ring girlfriend. Iniisip ko tuloy na kami ang dahilan kung bakit hanggang ngayon ay hindi siya pumapasok sa isang relasyon. 

"Don't look at me like that, Cori. I'm getting flushed," he blurted, the reason why I chuckled and turned my head at the back seat where Rianne was sleeping. Her head was lying on the soft pillow while she's sucking her thumb. That became a habit of hers.

"Does Rianne knows about Paris?" He asked.

"No... and I have no plans of telling her that she already met her father," I answered. Now that Paris saw my daughter, I'm terrified on what might happen. There are no secrets that can't be kept forever they said, but I'm just protecting Rianne. I don't want her to have high hopes to the man who broke me.

"But do you have a plan of getting an annulment?" 

Annulment, I've never heard that word for a long time. It didn't even crossed my mind. I left but that doesn't mean that I'm not Paris' wife anymore. We still have to settle things when it comes to our marriage and I'm sure that it will be easy for him to end our marriage since both of us are living separately, living our lives to the fullest. 

"Of course, I have. Aasikasuhin ko siguro 'yun ngayon na nandito kami ni Rianne. Sigurado naman ako na papayag kaagad si Paris," paninigurado ko dahil 'yun ang nakikita ko at ni minsan hindi ako nagkamali. 

He's devoted to Lorelei. Even though we are not yet annulled, I already considered myself as his ex-wife. Hindi man madali ang pag-asikaso sa paghihiwalay namin ay gagawin ko pa rin dahil 'yun naman ang tama. Gusto kong tuluyan ng maputol ang relasyon ko sa kanya, sa papel man o sa buhay ko. 

Hindi nagtagal ay nakarating na kami sa ospital kung saan sinugod si Mama. Nang tumigil ang kotse ay makailang beses akong lumunok dahil sa kakaibang awrang sumalubong sa akin. Sa loob ng gusali ay nandoon ang pamilya ko na iniwan ko apat na taon na ang nakalilipas at ngayon na haharapin ko sila ay halo-halo ang nararamdaman ko pero mas nangibabaw ang lungkot sa sistema ko. 

"Do you want me to come with you? Sasamahan kita saglit sa loob pero babalik kaagad ako dito para bantayan si Rianne," Si Yael pero kaagad akong umiling habang nakangiti. 

"Kaya ko ng mag-isa. Saglit lang naman ako kaya bantayan mo na lang si Rianne," sabi ko at akmang bubuksan na sana ang pinto pero naramdaman kong hinawakan ni Yael ang kamay ko. Bumalik sa kanya tingin ko na nagtataka.
