CHAPTER 16 ALONE

the day after that incident in the library, gulf told mew all about his vision based on what the book told him about what happened 20 years ago.

it finally dawned on him that that book was his moms possession when she was alive. as far as what gulf had learned from elder marcus, their familys grimoire that was passed on from his ancestors was missing during the coup de etat and it contained their familys personal magic. but as what gulf had read on the book that he found at the library, it didnt just contained magic but also history, thoughts, dreams and even desires of its previous owners. seeing that its too personal for anyone out of the family to know, he kept it to himself.

the book itself seems like it only has a hundred pages but gulf was sure it has more since he kept on flipping  on pages after pages for hours on end and still cannot find its end pages.

since that day, mew never left gulfs side. breakfast, library, practice, lunch, library, practice, dinner. day after day. week after week. the only difference is gulfs appetite. every day that passed, theres not an hour that you couldnt see gulf munching on something. one moment, a banana, later a pint of durian ice cream, then soon after dried fish dipped on soda.

mew: love...

gulf: yes, babe? (munching on spicy tuna with egg dipped on mustard sauce)

mew: um... (thinking of pointing out gulfs habit of eating weird combos of food but waving it off seeing how gulf enjoys every bit of it like hes eating a cotton candy) i... i need to check on the company later this afternoon, khlui's been on edge lately due to some pending documents that i need to sort through. ill be back around 7 before the feast begin.

gulf: oh... sure... no problem. what time will you go? (licking his thumbs)

mew: if i could leave now, i may be back earlier.

gulf: yeah you do that then. ill be fine here. im sure elder marcus will let me off this afternoon since theyll be busy setting up for the feast later. (mew wiped gulfs lower lip)

mew: just be safe please... (sniff sniff) (neared gulf and hugged him dearly) you smelled too sweet, you know that? it might be because of what you ate these days or maybe your heats coming up?

gulf: really? (sniffed his shirt near his neck) i dont smell anything. i dont think its my heat, babe. i dont feel anything other than the urge to eat what my mind is telling me otherwise, i get grumpy over small things. weird, right?

mew: (still embracing gulf) (scoffs) yeah, weird but cute... (bopped gulfs nose with his own)

gulf: go, now! so you can come back and help me with this chant later. (pushing mew out of the library)

mew: fine, fine (hands up). just dont get too tired, otherwise my me-time later will end up in a poof! (turned around to gulf) i love you, my love.

gulf: love you too babe. (pecked his lips)

around 3 in the afternoon, at the library

marcus: ow, gulf, your still here? (entered the library and closed the door)

....nat... carefull... i smell blood on him...

....blood?

....yeah... not his...

....maybe he punished someone before coming here...

marcus: i thought youll be in your room, preparing for later? remember, youll be presented later together with mew. where is he anyway?

gulf: hes at the office. finishing something that khlui couldnt get rid of.

marcus: when will he be back?

gulf: he said around 7... hell make it before the presentation elder marcus. dont worry

marcus: its not him that im worrying about. (smiled sweetly at him.... too sweet in gulfs opinion) enough of studying for now. go to your room and prepare (touched the others head... too long for gulfs comfort)

gulf: yeah, sure. (stood up and carried his "notebook" with him awkwardly)

gulf passed elder marcus but it never left his mind of what he saw on the elders collar - a streak of blood but neither did he anticipated what lua said to him when he entered his and mews bedchamber

....i smelled you on that streak nat

nor his reaction when he opened his eyes moments later after he was knocked out of his senses from his room.
