Chapter 10

I heard one more thud then Samai screamed out.

"Pretty little thing aren't cha." I heard a man's voice in the background.

"Take everything valuable." Another voice spoke.

"You two need to get the fuck out of my house."

No no no

"Kill her." Was all I heard before she dropped the phone. A muffled gunshot was heard, then another, followed by another, and another.

4 gunshots.

"SAMAI." My voice rang out. "FUCK!" I hit the steering wheel.

I was hearing my heartbeat thump loudly in my ears. My palms were sweaty and I felt like I couldn't see properly. Images of Allison blurred with Samai kept clouding my vision. My breathing was erratic.

When I made to the house, I barely even parked the car before I flew out. The door and front window was broken. I grabbed my gun from my waist band and ran inside the house. I looked around to see if the men were still here. As I'm walking towards Samai's room I hear glass crunching on the floor. I aimed my gun in the direction by the door frame. The person quickly turned the corner and shot at me. I easily dodged the bullet.

"Enzo?"

"Samai?" We both had guns pointed at each other. I looked closely at hers to see it had a silencer on it. That's why it was muffled over the phone.

She lowered her weapon and ran into my arms. Her face was filled with tears. At this point I was so confused but mostly relieved.

"Babygirl are you okay? Did they hurt you? Where the fuck are they?" I let go of her and started scoping the house.

"It's okay, I handled it." She pointed towards her room and I went inside.

Two men laid in blood on the floor. I flipped on her light switch and saw one of the men with two bullet holes in the side of his face. The other one had two holes in his chest. They were obviously dead.

From the looks of things, they seem to be just two low life robbers. I looked closer and saw that they still had their guns on them.

So where did Samai get the gun from?

I look over to her and she had her arms wrapped around herself as she leaned against the frame. She looked calm but tired. I walked over to her and held her face.

"Are you okay?"

She gave me a weak smile and nodded.

"I'm gonna take you back to mine okay? Just let me make a call."

"Okay." She reach up to kiss my lips then she went over to the kitchen area.

I pulled out my phone and called Alessandro.

"Brother of mine." Ale picked up on the first ring.

"I need help with a cleanup. Can you send a few of your men tonight?"

"Woah there, what the fuck did you do? You said you weren't doing this anymore Ren."

"I can't get into detail right now, but I have two bodies that need taking care of. Once everything settles down I'll tell you everything."

"Alright give me the address." I told him the address before I walked over to Samai.

"Are you okay with staying with me for a few days?"

"I don't mind but what about Chase?"

"He can come too or I can get him a hotel. You have to call him and let him know that he can't come back here right now. I'll handle the damages, but even though it'll be fixed I don't want you to stay here anymore. I can get you and Chase a place on the safer side of the city." I hope she doesn't see this as me telling her what to do. I just want her to be safe.

"Yea that's fine, let me just call him." She hopped off the chair and went for her phone.

Samai is weirdly calm about this, like it wasn't her first rodeo. I thought back to the two men in her room, they both seemed like they didn't even have the chance to get their weapons out. I looked to the pistol that she left on the counter.

Where did she get this from? A silencer?

The mafia in me wants to be on guard with her, but I know Samai isn't an enemy. I won't bring it up now but I do need answers. I know we both have to come clean about certain things.

Just then three men walked in and came over to me. They were people I recognized.

"Lorenzo, long time." Dom walked over and have me a manly hug.

"Dom." I returned his hug.

"Seb, Zino." I acknowledge the other two men.

"Good to see you man." Sebastian spoke. Zino just nodded. Still a man of few words.

"Where's the cleanup? Boss said it was pretty urgent." I pointed them in the direction of the bodies.

After thanking them I went to look for Samai. Seeing three strange men in her house after what just happened might set her off and that's the last thing I want.

"Hey they're with me okay?"

"What are they doing? Shouldn't we be calling the police?"

"Don't worry about that right now, it's being handled. Did you talk to Chase?"

"Yea he said if it isn't too much trouble he'll stay at the hotel." I nodded.

"Did you tell him what happened?"

"Just that the house got robbed while we were out." It's best right now if he doesn't know the details. "Let me grab some stuff and we can go."

I waited for her as she grabbed some of her things. When she finished, I grabbed her bag and we went to the car and drove back to my place. Samai looked beyond tired. When we got to the house she took a shower and got changed. I set up the guest room for her so she could rest.

After she got settled in her room I went to the kitchen to get something to drink. I sat down for a bit and the reality of what happened today kicked in.

I could've lost her.

I don't wanna think about what would've happened if she didn't defend herself. I told myself I wouldn't let her down the same way I did with Allison. Losing Samai isn't an option.

I went to take a shower after a bit. When I came out to put my clothes on, I saw Samai laying in my bed. The sight made my heart skip a beat.

After putting some clothes on I got in bed. Samai climbed on top of me the same way she did when we fell asleep at her house the other day.

Falling for this woman was inevitable.
