So this is a scene that I might include in a future book lol I wanted to draw it
Basically, protagonist meets the Night Marchers from Hawaiian mythology :D
Lemme explain a bit about them...
So the Night Marchers are ancient warrior ghost spirits who rise on the nights honoring the four main hawaiian gods: Kane, Ku, Lono, and Kanaloa.
Sometimes they're seen during the day but its VERY RARE, only to escort a dead relative to the afterlife
Usually they'd travel to ancient battle sites or other sacred places. Some signs that they're coming and/or are around are conch shells being blown, torches, chanting, and a death-like odor.
DONT MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THEM
IT'LL ENSURE YOU A VIOLENT DEATH
UNLESS
you're FORTUNATE enough to have a distant ancestor within the Night Marchers, they'll come forward and say "Na'u" which means "mine" in Hawaiian. If they do this, none of the Night Marchers will be allowed to hurt u.
{Kinda like in Twilight, once a wolf imprints, nobody in the pack's allowed to hurt whoever they imprinted on.}
