●Chapter Five●

Start from the beginning

"More cocky comments?" Asahi asked with an eye roll.

"Eh."

"We'll beat them today." Daichi said.

No, no you won't. At least, not with you on the court.

"Definitely!" I tried to sound excited. We all walked to the gym, seeing we had Fukurodani as our first match today. Bokuto and his gang, fun fun. I have noticed one thing about Bokuto; he gets pouty when the ball isn't sent to him or if a ball gets past him. Akaashi then has to cheer him up. They seem to have a strong bond too, even off the court. Though, Akaashi has a similar personality to Tsukki from what I can tell, and Bokuto...well...he's a whole different personality type. It's interesting.

In our first set, I started with Tsukki, Tanaka, Daichi, Asahi, and Hinata. Everyone on the court knows how to attack, maybe we can try a back row attack?

We received first, setting us up for a Hopefully easy point.

The ball was sent up to me, I tried to set it to Asahi. My aim was off, probably due to the dizziness. He still hit it, just not as great as it could've been. They easily dug that ball out.

On my next set, I adjusted how I needed to and got a good set over to Asahi. He hit the ball with as much force and precision as always, and earned us the first point of the day.

*~*

We actually won a game against Fukorodani. We got out of punishment.

It wasn't your doing though, had they kept you in, you'd be doing hill sprints.

I wasn't in much for the second two sets, seeing as we lost the first set. But, Kageyama and Hinata had a good time messing with Bokuto. I think they did it on purpose, sent spike after spike towards him just out of reach. It was fun to watch, honestly.

Our second game was a BYE. Daichi and I walked outside, same as yesterday. We stared into the sky, hoping it didn't rain. The sky looked dark and angry and ready to pour.

"Why don't you take a nap between games here?" Daichi suggested.

Weak

"If I slept now, no one would be able to get me back up to play."

"I'm worried about you, dude."

"Trust me, I know. You don't need to keep saying it. It just makes me feel even more guilty. I never should've opened up." I was getting annoyed.

Push him away.

"No, I didn't- Suga. Listen. You need to take care of yourself."

"I'm fine, Daichi. I'm not dead yet, so fuck off." I got even more harsh, hoping he'd stop bringing it up every hour or so.

"I...I'm sorry." He said. I didn't reply. I knew he wanted to help, but I didn't want it. I didn't deserve it.

Cut.

Oh cool, that intrusive thought is there again. I tried to just ignore it.

*~*

When the second games were over, we all headed to lunch. I sat and tried to eat, knowing what I'd be doing in fifteen minutes. I zoned everything out, not caring about what they were talking about.

"I'll be back, gonna use the bathroom before we head back to the court." I said as I stood. I did what I always did. I just want it to kill me already.

I walked out, feeling super dizzy and honestly, kind of nauseous. I tried to hide it with a fake smile and false excitement.

"Let's do this!" I said. I led the way back to the gym for our next game against Nekoma.

*~*

We started the game with a full attacker line up, meaning me as setter and no libero. Though, they could just as easily do it, maybe even do it better, with Kageyama.

I led the team to try some back row attacks, and we killed it. We can make the hits, we just need to make them past Nekoma.

With the first set being at a tie at this point, we decided to sub Kageyama back In for some surprise quicks.

You weren't doing good enough, that's why they took up off the court.

I sat on the bench and watched, hoping that I could see some of Kageyama's skills and maybe learn.

With him subbed in, and also utilizing having all the attackers around him, he won us the first set, 23-25.

I was put in the second set, running a line with Narita, Enoshita, Kinoshita, Yamaguchi, and Noya. We were running with players who don't get much court time to give them a chance to practice too. Needless to say, our set went south pretty quickly. It's not that we were bad, we just didn't have the connection the other lineups do. We need to find a lineup that fits them and their skills.

It wasn't going too horribly until the dizziness I'd gotten used to turned into severe lightheadedness. I kept moving, trying to adjust to this too. I stopped moving when my ears started ringing and the surrounding noise of the game got dim.

"Hold up, stop the match, Daichi!" I heard Kuroo yell.

The last thing I heard before my hearing went out completely was Daichi calling for our coach and Takeda.
