Synopsis:

Tang Ziyou was reborn. In his previous life, he gave everything to his fiancé, actor Gu Jiuci, but he could not get the other party's love. In this life, Tang Ziyou decided to let go. He took off the ring on his hand, moved out of Gu Jiuci's house, returned to the entertainment industry, and proposed to dissolve the marriage contract.

Gu Jiuci was born in a wealthy family, handsome, had countless suitors, but he was engaged to Tang Ziyou.

A friend asked him: "How does it feel to be engaged?"

Gu Jiuci's thin lips lightly opened: "Annoying."

Knowing that Tang Ziyou wanted to dissolve the marriage contract, his friend raised his glass to congratulate him: "Now you aren't annoyed."

Gu Jiuci's face was as heavy as iron, not only irritable but also flustered.

. . .

Gu Jiuci: "We were engaged when we were young."

Tang Ziyou: "Outdated bad practices, you said, I understand."

Gu Jiuci: "I am your fiancé."

Tang Ziyou: "Fiancé does not equal husband, I know what you said."

Gu Jiuci: "I don't agree to dissolve the marriage contract!"

Tang Ziyou: "A marriage contract is just a marriage contract, and you don't like it. I remember what you said."

Gu Jiuci: ...how can I beat myself to death!

. . .

Gu Jiuci discovered that Tang Ziyou really didn't care about him anymore. Not only did he not care about him, but he also became popular in the entertainment circle and was liked by more and more people.

His brother: "You are not the only child in our family. Marrying me is also an option."

His friend: "Don't harm Xiao You, I will treat him well, don't worry."

Gu Jiuci was impatient: "Who said I don't like him, stay away from my wife!"

Tang Ziyou: "Don't talk nonsense, we're already separated."

Gu Jiuci: "Never separate, never separate! I will listen to you from now on, Xiao You, so don't dissolve your marriage contract with me ok?"

Tang Ziyou: "Heh."

Impressions: I've read this before when I was going thru all of author-sama's works MTL. Reread it last night~ (completely translated now!) I could say this is my least favorite novel of hers. And it's not because it's not good, but just because its a chasing wife novel. I don't like chasing wife novels. I feel like if the scum gong didn't cherish the shou first causing him to leave, then there's no need for the shou to go back and be aggrieved again so I'm hostile to the gongs. Lol. It was the same here.

So our MC and ML is an arranged marriage set by elders. MC likes ML and ML is resistant to their engagement so he treats MC coldly. Finally, almost a year after their engagement, MC gets into an accident and dies, and the last words he heard from ML is "Don't bother me." MC gets reborn 3 mos after their engagement and knows what their ending will be so he breaks it off early and walks away.

ML is convinced he's just 'trying to attract his attention' and he's obnoxiously confident that MC must still like him until MC talked to the elders about the breaking the engagement that he knows MC was being serious. Then he starts to pester MC/chase his wife. Finally, they communicate with each other and ML explains that he also likes MC but he feels that he was so resistant to the engagement before, and he didn't want people to know that his feelings changed too fast.

Laters, he continued to chase MC until MC got over this hurdle in his heart and acknowledge that he still likes ML and gets back together with him. Extras is past life (BE) where MC died and ML is unhappy forever; past life (HE) where MC gets amnesia and ML had to chase his wife; and then MC & ML making it public in this life.

Like I said, I don't really like chasing wife novels. I was sooo hostile to the ML XD I felt like when it came down to it, he just doesn't want to slap his own face right? Because his initial protest would become a big joke if he suddenly starts liking MC. So between his face and returning MC's feelings now that he likes him too, he chose to protect his own face.

Although I do understand where ML is coming from, wanting to fall inlove at his own pace... he was basically forced to the engagement, but that's no reason to treat MC's love so callously especially if he likes him back. He likes MC so he resist and alienate him? He is so confident that MC's love for him won't change no matter what he does, but that doesn't mean our MC's feelings won't get hurt, that he won't feel neglected, won't feel alone, won't have pity parties by himself. I even felt like Big Bro is good, cos even if him and MC didn't like each other but he offered to get in touch and cultivate their feelings first unlike ML who seems to think he's being tsundere when in fact he's being very hurtful.

I started to like ML when he starts to chase MC after MC wanted to cancel the engagement, not just because he wants our MC back, but because that's what MC deserves.. He wanted MC to know that he is loved and deserves to be loved. He didn't want MC to think that he's not good enough that's why ML didn't cherish him at the time. This is the gentle gong in author-sama's works that I am familiar with~~

I also like that it's short! Cos of my prejudice on chasing wife novels XD And the BE on how much ML suffered after MC's death helped redeem his image for me XD XD XD Still, even if its my least favorite work of author-sama, but it's my favorite chasing wife novel cos I felt that our ML was so sincere~~ Also, introspection of MC that some fault also lies in him (Some, but not all). And the communication between the two that finally untied the knots in their hearts. Also, no 3rd party!! (Big Bro is not a third party! Lol.) It's just MC & ML involve in the misunderstanding between them (no white moonlight, love rival etc.)

Nearest reco: Hmm... How to Deal with a Tsundere Gong, the MC there is also swift and decisive in walking away. But I didn't like the gong until the end. Lol.
