272. Transmigrating to the Ancient Times with Lu's Convenience

Synopsis:

Lu Lin resigned from his job in the big city, returned to the countryside, and inherited the convenience mart left by his parents. Then a thunderstorm sent Lu Lin to an unfamiliar ancient era. Lu Lin was reborn as a young man with the same name and surname as himself, and he was about to be married to a fierce Bio who goes up the mountain to fight tigers.

Adjusting to ordinary farming, not a long story.

Note: In this story, "Bios" typically have manly features and a birthmark shaped like a flower on their forehead. They are not as tall as men and they are able to bear children, but childbirth is more difficult than it is for women.

Impressions: I was bingeing Chinese novels set in 60s/70s (Back to the Sixties: Farm, Get Wealthy & Raise the Cubs and Bai Fumei in the 70's) and its all food porn for the most part! So went to find food porn BL too. Lol

So our MC is a convenience store owner in modern times, suddenly he transmigrated into ancient times as an unfortunate guy who was married off by his family. Anyways, the original and the shou are cut-off by their bloodsucking relatives and in order to not pay taxes, (citizens must marry at a certain age according to law), they marry each other. MC transmigrates on the day of the marriage.

Anyways, although shou is a ger (let's just call him ger, I'm not used to Bios. lol), he is very strong. He makes a living through hunting (they have no land to farm that's why there's no farming tag) and raises his two younger siblings. Our MC is a modern man who doesn't know how to hunt in the mountains so he takes charge of taking care of the home (COOKING!) His golden finger is his convenience store and the inventory in it. Time doesn't exist in the store so there's no worry about the stuff inside expiring. Of course, because of the ever renewing  supply of salt, egg, rice, sugar etc. shou soon discovers MCs strangeness and asks him about it. MC comes clean to shou and shows him some stuff from his store and shou accepts his explanation.

Next is poor-to-rich/business management, MC sells some wine from his store and also makes some wine through local ingredients (sweet potatoes), he also makes jams etc. After getting some capital, he opens a store in town and sells some bag, dolls etc. MC and shou's shameless families are  shown from time to time for comparison, as MC and shou's life get better and better and theirs get worse and worse cos they get to all kinds of troubles. Laters, MC & shou's store gets into trouble cos some official wants to make money and gives them all kinds of unreasonable charges.

MC always wanted to buy an official post, and this also helped push him, so he buys a 7th-rank official post in a border county. MC and family packs up to go there to become the country magistrate, starting anew, and helping drive the economy to make their county prosper. MC 'invents' a useful farming tool, makes tofu, builds shops and restaurants (more food porn!) etc. After staying there for a couple of years, MC gets promoted and transferred to a seaside county and then he starts to drive the economy again, starting seafood restaurants, teaching new ways to cook seafood etc~ If you like country-building kind of stuff, you might like this but its only a smaller scale since its just a few towns~ Still very satisfying ^^

Overall, this is quite nice. MC and shou relatives, neighbors etc. can be shameless and frustrating sometimes (they actually get a lot of screentime. lol) but since MC and shou are not affected so it doesn't really feel that annoying anymore when you read it. Plus I like this kind of poor-to-rich in ancient times stories. MC's convenience store golden finger were mostly used at the start (with the wine, salt, sugar etc) but laters, its just more of a convenient tool where you can store stuff to keep it fresh or where MC hides their money so they won't worry about it being stolen. The stuff inside was mostly eaten by MC & his shou (they never told anyone else about it) and the ending, was...#spoiler MC & shou drinking the last can of Sprite. I kinda wish there was more since MC never got to go to the Capital and there weren't any Extras on what happened to MC and shou little buns after they grew up, stuff like that~~
