Chapter 2

The Rogue in the Woods

8 hours later

So now I am walking to my 1966 Chevy truck that used to be my dads but he gave it to me because I had begged since I was in seventh grade. He is a beauty my car is! He is all lake blue with a white roof and has a nice and shiny polish to him and yes my car is a dude not a girl or baby because that's way too mainstream.

As I wait for my two younger sisters that attend the high school as freshman I see some of the boys from my pack incline their heads slightly towards me as a sign of respect.

"Lyn!!" I heard two identical voices call.

I look over to see my sisters Cadence and Clara walking towards me with their light brown hair in waves halfway down their backs and their dark blue eyes like mine shining while they smile at me.

I love my sisters and would do anything to protect them from everything that could ever hurt them. The only thing I can't protect them from is heartbreak but they know that I would always be there to make them feel happy again.

"Hey Cad and Clara! How did the day go"? I ask them while hugging them and kissing their heads. I love them so much because they are my sisters.

"It was good especially considering the swimming unit started today. It was fun especially seeing all those guys shirtless. I never knew freshman boys good have abs". Clara rambled.

'Ha they look exactly alike but they have almost totally opposite personalities'. I think to myself.

"Yeah it was good" Cad said smiling at me.

"Thats good gals now lets head on home. Dad wants me to attend a meeting with some other alphas so let's get going"! I say while opening the tailgate for them and the door so they can get in then getting in myself.

I drive home and soon I am pulling into the driveway of the packhouse and am getting out of the car and letting the girls out then rushing inside just to be tackled ( which I was expecting) by a small little four year old named Kaelyn and a eleven year old named Jasmine that were my youngest sisters.

"Mady!!!" They screamed in my ear and with my sensitive hearing it was not the funnest thing.

"Kae!! Jas!! I missed you guys so much and I would love to talk to you but I have to go see Daddy to talk about pack stuff, Okay?" I asked them. They nodded so I ran past them and on the way kissed both of them on their little dark brown haired heads and kissed my mom on the cheek that I was an exact replica of.

I rushed up to my room and put my stuff down and ran to the meeting room.

As I calmly walked through the door I could hear all the noises quiet down till there was silence.

"Good evening Gentlemen" I said in my semi Alpha voice so they could see I was serious.

"Ahh Madelyn! How was your day at school-" my dad started but I cut him off.

"Alpha, let us talk about my day later. Let us focus on this right now" I said while discreetly giving my dad a sad smile and mindlinking him 'I'm sorry daddy but you know how hard it is for me with me being a girl. We talked about this. I promise we will talk about this later okay?' I cut him off before he could answer and looked forward to the Alpha and Betas in front of me.

"Well I hope I haven't been too long. I apologies" I say while looking each of them in the eye.

"Um miss I don't think we need a chaperone. We are perfectly fine by just us men" One man said while looking at me with a smug smile on his face.

With that I let my dominance unveil itself so they could see not to test my patience.

I watched their reactions as it hit them and watched as their eyes widened and they looked away from me while showing their necks in submission.

'Oh yeah we are not gonna take that! Nuh uh!' Makena shouts in my head causing me to wince inwardly.

"Let's start". I say while sitting down next to the chair my dad will sit in and getting ready for the next few hours of pack talking.

3 hours later

As I'm walking back to my room Makena says 'Hey Mad can we sleep now?'.

'No can do Makena I still have to finish up my homework but why don't you go ahead and rest I wake you up in the morning'. I reply.

'K, goodnight Mad'

'Night Mak'.

I walk into my room and start my calculus homework.

"yay..." ( Note the sarcasm)

1 Hour later

As I am doing my English homework my dad mindlinks me. 'Madelyn there was a rogue spotted on the western border. Go.'

With that I sprint out of my room and out the back door to the west of the territory.

Let me tell you something. I. Hate. Rogues. I know everyone does but they took something away from me and I will never be able to get it back. They changed my family forever.

'Makena'!

'I'm ready!'

I sprint through the woods towards where the rogues general area should be then I smell him.

'Dad I got a scent' I mindlink to my dad. 'Everyone come to my area now.' I mind link to all the wolves that are tracking the rogue.

The smell got stronger and stronger until I saw something run through the trees.

'Got you'. I think to myself. I run even faster to the, now I can tell, boy and pounce on him.

I pin his arms and legs down and look down at him. He opens his eyes and I see big bright Hazel eyes staring up at me.

"Mate". I whisper.
