There was no one at the station when she arrived. Clouds of condensation escaped her mouth as she stood panting slightly. The neighbourhood she was in was quiet enough for her to hear the larks chirping.

There were posters on the sides of the stop she stood at. A few of them indicating the dangers of drug abuse. What caught her attention was the multi-coloured pills shown in a hand. Pills. She shook her head slightly. The pills she took when she was younger were not in any drugstore around.

She never questioned where her mother got them from but after doing her own digging, she decided that the reason never mattered. They did what they had to do. Suppressed her...breakouts if you could call them that. Anastasia remembered every single time something happened when she got emotional.

It was expected of a child to throw a tantrum or two. Hers however caused strange occurrences. Sometimes small objects would float around or explode into pieces. Other times things would shake or rattle. The real doozy was her eyes. Her irises would change colour according to how she felt.

The pills were made to suppress those outbursts and after a while, she stopped taking them. On occasion her eyes would still change but because she was able to control it, no one really noticed. Of course when she stopped taking them, she experienced withdraw.

Slight headaches and dizzy spells would slow down her reaction time. She got a lot more hurt during her training but she pushed through. A large blue bus creaked to the stop, bringing her back to reality. She climbed in and paid using her bus card.

It was spacious inside. The seats were dull grey which matched the driver's uniform and the space between each seat had a pole or handle for patrons to hold whilst standing. The bus rumbled beneath her feet as she made her way to sit by a window. Some people stared at her and others murmured. 'How typical.', she thought.

Consulting her map showed her the route all buses used to travel across Stasis Breach to Geiseinger. That was where the school was. It really didn't make sense for her to go to a random school. Her mother's letter left much to be desired but given the situation, she owed it to her to at least find out why.

Her mother's letter came with another one from the corporation itself. Her eyebrows narrowed in focus as she remembered the letter word for word.

'This letter serves to inform the ward of Agent #52O67-8 that the aforementioned employee was terminated on their last mission. Agent #52O67-8 was a remarkable asset to the Grey Leagues and had obtained the rights to a box in headquarters. The box contains personal effects as well as documents that must be received within twenty-four hours in the event of the death of Agent #52O67-8....'

The rest of letter went on about support and other stuff irrelevant as far as Anastasia was concerned. She chuckled dryly as she remembered how they sent counsellors she didn't bother talking to. In all honesty, her superiors were nice enough. Granted that some had a vendetta against her but she was amicable with everyone. Well...everyone that mattered.

Being an assassin from a young age taught her how indispensable people are. Killing felt like any other task. It was simply her survival over theirs. No regret. Not even when it meant killing her very first friend.

Aside from the letter from the corporation, Anastasia's mother left a copy of her registration letter and a note indicating the directions to the school. The bus came to a stop called Feds and according to the map, it showed the school was located southwest of Geiseinger. Four miles from her bus stop.

Classes started at 8am. 'If I run, I can make it there in 30 minutes.', she mused. She walked up to the bus driver and asked. "Are there any buses that head southwest from here?"
The driver replied, stuttering,"Well y-you see this h-here is the last bus stop f-for miles. G-Geiseinger folks p-prefer to walk around here so your b-best bet would b-be to hitch h-hike but that's n-not safe Miss."

The bus driver watched her get off and drove to the next stop, mopping his head affectionately as he wondered if he just witnessed an alien.

The sidewalks were empty. Large fields of grass could be seen all around the town. The air felt much warmer here. Hitch hiking was not a possibility due to the lack of homo sapiens manning vehicles. Huffing under her breath, she folded the map into her backpack and ran down the empty sidewalk heading southwest.
