JAKE'S POV

While Zeus and I are in line waiting for our turn at the counter, my eyes shift towards the entrance— just in time to see Sierra and her two minions enter the canteen. There's a dramatic flair in their steps like those mean girls you see from chick flick movies. The way their hair moves seems like there's a huge fan that has been set up behind them.

Bro, you're literally just imagining things.

Distracted by their sudden appearance, my eyebrows furrow when I notice how different Sierra looks this time. Her hair is much shorter now, and the dark make-up she put on accentuates her sharp features, making her look fierce and... hotter than she has ever been.

A sly smirk forms on her lips when she catches me looking at her. I quickly look away, only to catch Zeus also staring at her with a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"What's up with you two?" I couldn't help but ask. He blinks at my question and looks at me as if I doused him in cold water.

"What? Who?" he replies, obviously acting clueless.

I let out a snort and nudge him on the ribs. "Dude, you know what I'm talking about."

A bitter smile stretches his lips and judging from the tension on his face, he's definitely contemplating whether to spill it or not.

"She's been ignoring me ever since that day so...fuck it," he shrugs, trying to act unaffected.

I don't know if I should feel sad for him for being in this predicament, or feel awkward since I used to date the girl he likes.

Zeus is actually the nicest and smartest guy I know, so it doesn't make sense why Sierra is not into him.

Dude, you just broke up with her last week, remember? And you expect her to move on with another guy like nothing happened? She's not like you.

I turn as stiff as a board when I realize that she and her friends are lining up after us, with Jessica right behind me. I always knew they were close, but I find her friendship with Marcus' ex-girlfriend, Hannah, a little weird.

"Chicken nuggets please, like all of it. Then uhm, a steaming bowl of soup, and one cold glass of Pepsi please," she says the last word with an emphasis, and I briefly wonder if she has some ill intentions behind that tone.

And how did I forget that chicken nuggets are also her favorite? Just like my Peppy.

Speaking of those crusty little chicken bits... my ex took everything, and not a single piece is left.

Damn it. I was planning on ordering some nuggets for my moody baby. Now what?

"Girl, a nugget has like 296 calories per 100 grams, so you really need to work on the treadmill tonight to burn them," Jessica utters in her annoying Valley girl tone.

"I don't care about my figure, Jessie. I will always be the sexiest and besides, this is my favorite so... I'll get everything I want and that's that." Sierra sharply replies.

"Of course! What Sierra wants, Sierra gets!" Jessica retorts with an annoying giggle while giving me a side-eye.

Everyone within the proximity for sure heard of them. I mean, how could they not when she basically shouted the words out?

Holding my tray of food, I could feel Sierra's penetrating gaze at my backside. I hope she won't cause any trouble, but deep down, I know that she will.

I glance in Pepsi's direction across the room and just the sight of her simply sitting on our table is my new definition of comfort. I press my lips together as I try to keep the smile off my face. God, I am so in love with that woman, who looks so lost right now.
