The sun had set, Seth and Orion had retired back to their room together. They had both showered and changed, Seth wearing a pair of black boxers and Orion in a short, black, silk nightie. After the long day they had, they were both utterly exhausted and couldn't wait to get to bed. The air between them was silent, the only sound audible was their practiced breaths as they both got lost in their thoughts.

Orion couldn't help but feel oddly relaxed. Even with everything moving, and with sudden speed, she felt as though she should be nervous, or scared, hell maybe even excited for the change. Instead she was engulfed by an overwhelming sense of calm.

She wondered if it was because both she and Seth had been preparing for this, with the support of Vincent and the other Alphas for a couple months now. Perhaps they were ready.

Or perhaps it was because as she was seated in the centre of their bed with Seth reverently braiding her hair, she was nothing but grounded in that moment with him.

Seth's hands were careful, purposeful and loving as he parted, brushed, oiled and weaved her hair into 6 uniform cornrows. Once he finished, he wrapped his arms around her, kissing the side of her head.

"It's finally happening." Orion mumbled quietly, she knew with Seth's enhanced hearing he would definitely be able to hear her.

Seth remained quiet for a moment, taking the time to digest her words- not that he needed to. He had been thinking about their earlier meeting nonstop since it had ended.

"I know I've already asked you this, but I need to ask you once more. Please stay here. You heard the plan, there's so much that can go wrong and I don't want to worry about your safety on top of it."

Seth kept his voice calm, knowing that his request might upset Orion. They had already had this conversation after all, and even to his own ears it sounded more like he was telling her rather than asking. Seth cringed, cursing internally at his insensitivity, his arms around her tightening a fraction as if expecting her to pull away from him.

Orion resend but didn't pull away, instead she turned in his arms, her brows scrunched with her annoyance. She didn't hesitate to quip back at him, like him trying to appear calm and controlled.

"You're wasting your time and breath." She steeled her face into a soft, yet smug, smile. "My answer from before won't change Seth. Not now, not the day before, not the morning of, not two seconds before."

Seth grit his teeth in annoyance. Although he knew why Orion wanted them to stay together, he couldn't help but feel this situation was different. Of course the last thing he wanted was to leave her, but if it meant she was safe? Seth would do it in a heartbeat.

Maybe she would hate him, but she would be alive to hate him. He didn't understand how she could so easily she could disregard the amount of danger she was putting herself in. She was only human for Goddesses sake! Even with everything they had been through together, if she were attacked by a werewolf who wanted her dead, without Seth around to protect her, she would surely die.

The thought alone was enough to provoke a new heat to the angry fire simmering within him. Seth pulled away, sliding off the bed away from her as his irritation and anxiety grew.

It was uncomfortable, burning his skin. He wanted to claw it off, to rip it out of him. He hated feeling like this and he wasn't careful he would spiral out of control. He turned back to her, his eyes aglow with his ire.

"Why not?! Why don't you care about your life! My uncle won't hesitate to rip your throat out to get to me!" His voice was loud, startling the silence around them.
