"do i really have to go?" i asked, today's my first day of school and i'm dreading it

"yes you do" my mom answered "but i don't have anyone to talk to" i groaned

"you have that girl who came by yesterday, anna" my mom said "yeah i guess" i sighed

"meet you in the car" my mom smiled before leaving my room

as i walked the halls, struggling to find the office, i bumped into this boy

"oh, i'm sorry" i apologized to the boy "no i'm sorry, i should've watched where i was going" he nervously chuckled

"me too" i said "are you new?" he asked "is it that obvious?" i laughed

"yeah kinda" he laughed "do you need help with anything?" he asked

"uh yeah, i can't find the office" i answered "oh, i just left from there i can take you there" he smiled

i just nodded before i followed him

"i'm katie by the way" i introduced myself "phillips" he smiled

"and, here it is" phillips said as we reached the office "thank you" i smiled "could you actually wait for me?" i asked

"yeah of course" phillips answered with a smile

-BENNY'S POV-

"sup, losers" phillips said to the 8 boys and 1 girl approaching him

"nothin' much, jerk" anna answered "what do you want?" i asked

"what do i want? you guys walked towards me" phillips answered "but since you wanna know so bad, i'm waiting for my friend" he said

"you don't have any friends" squints said "whatever, she's new and she's nice, unlike some people" phillips said looking at squints

that's when she walked out, katie

"ok, here are my classes" she said showing phillips her schedule

katie was the friend phillips was waiting for? why is she even friends with that jerk?

"katie?" anna asked "hi" katie smiled, but once she seen no one else smiling she stopped "what's wrong?" she asked

"what's wrong is that you're friends with a dirtbag" anna answered "a what?" katie asked "a jerk" squints said

"phillips? he's nice" katie said "why are you guys so concerned about who i'm friends with?" she asked

"we're not, not anymore" anna sassed "good luck being friends with him" she sassed one more time

"what's your problem?" katie asked, you could easily tell she was getting fed up

"you can't be friends with... him!" anna yelled "and why's that?" katie asked as she stepped closer to anna

when anna didn't answer katie continued

"because you guys don't like him?" she asked taking another step "take one more step and i-"

"you'll what? hit me?" katie asked completely cutting anna off "i'd like to see you try" katie sassed before walking off with phillips

"good job, dumbass" i said once katie left "me?" anna asked "yes, you!" i said "she's never gonna be our friend now" i groaned

"maybe it's not meant to be then!" anna said "don't wanna be friends with a bitch like her anyways" anna rolled her eyes

"don't call her that" i said getting defensive "why? 'cause you're 'in love' with her?" anna asked "she doesn't even know you exist!" she reminded before walking off to find ethan

"well, there goes our chance of being friends with katie" smalls said "tell me about it" i sighed

-KATIE'S POV-

"so, how was your first day?" phillips asked as we walked out of the school building

"it was good, minus the office incident" i answered "yeah, that was pretty crazy" phillips said

"i cant believe it, anna was so nice when she walked to my door yesterday" i said "and then she acts like that this morning" i added

"i can't believe you didn't hit her" phillips joked "oh trust me, i was considering it" i laughed

me and phillips talked for a few minutes when someone honked their horn

"that's my mom, gotta go" phillips said "do you need a ride?" he asked "no, my mom should be here soon, thanks though" i answered

"anytime, see you tomorrow" phillips smiled before running to his moms car

"katie!" someone yelled, i turned around to see a boy running towards me, as i got a good look i recognized him as one of the boys who stared at me yesterday

i just gave him a confused looked until he spoke up

"about earlier" he started "you gonna tell me to not be friends with phillips too?" i asked "no, i'm here to apologize" he said

"i'm sorry for how my friend, anna, acted towards you earlier today" he apologized "and i-" "why are you apologizing" i interrupted

"because i should've stopped her" he answered "why are you even friends with her?" i asked "because she's nice" he answered

"nice... ok well, i gotta go my moms here" i said "see you later..." "oh, benny" he said "see you later benny" i said before walking towards my moms car

"how was school?" my mom asked once i got in "well, it was definitely... school" i answered "i hear you girl" my mom said

"make any friends?" she asked "yeah, his names phillips" i answered "did you see your friend anna today?" my mom asked

"yeah, and i wanted to punch her" i said "what? why?" my mom laughed "because she told me i couldn't be friends with phillips" i said

"like, who is she to decide?" i asked "maybe she's looking out for you? i mean, she's been here longer than you" my mom tried to reason

"but i like phillips, he's nice" i said "and i don't like him... like that" i added

"she said what?" yeah-yeah asked, he wasn't there during the office incident so i'm telling him

"i know, insane" i said "but she's friends with... phillips?" he asked "sadly, yes" i answered

"how did that happen?" he asked "i'm not sure, she said he was nice" i shrugged

"but because of anna, we're never gonna be friends with her" i said

after a moment of silence, yeah-yeah spoke up

"i have an idea" he said "what is it?" i asked "since we can't tell katie how much of a jerk phillips is, we can show her" yeah-yeah said

"how are we gonna show her?" i asked "we can bring the jerk-ness out of him" he answered "like we always do" anna said

"anna?" i asked "hey" she said "i'm sorry for going all.. bitchy mode on katie" she apologized

"it's fine, let's get katie to hate phillips" i said
