chapter thirteen

A year passed since I found out that I discovered the news of getting pregnant with Trevor's baby and I was happy to announce that I gave birth to a baby girl that I named Jae. I was able to talk Carlos into taking care of her if something happened to me and he agreed to it, I could tell that he nervous when she was gently placed into his arms.

Carlos: she's so tiny.

Aryll: it certainly suits you...

He carefully handed her to me after I laid back in the bed and watched him walk out of the room so I could feed her, something about the way he left made me feel a little worried because I noticed that he looked sad before he shut the door.

A week passed since I had been released from the hospital and was back home with Jae, my worst fear came true when I found out through Brian that Carlos had decided to get a new job that didn't require protecting me or anyone else and as the weeks turned into months

I had almost accepted the fact that he wasn't ever coming back until one day when I was about to go on a road trip to meet Brian and his family for a family reunion when he decided to pay me a visit.

Aryll: Carlos...what are you doing here?

Carlos: I know that you have been asking yourself why I left...

Aryll: I was informed that you decided to get another job that doesn't require protecting someone.

Carlos: that is true but real reason for leaving is because....

Aryll: because you have feelings for someone you met.

Carlos: I didn't know how to explain it but that night I held Jae it become clear to me.

I didn't know what to say and he was about to walk away again but I stopped him this time.

Aryll: please don't go, I need you here with me...

Carlos: I don't want you to change your plans.

Aryll: you can come with me, it will give us time to talk about things...

He placed his bag in the back next to mine and let me know that he would drive as long as he could before we would stop and rest at the nearest hotel or motel.
