It's the next morning and Harper is on shift
"Get that truck spotless! We need to beat engine!" Harper shouts as she looks at the clipboard in her hands
"God that'll be easy have you seen the state of their truck?" Herrmann adds
"Sorry Herrmann?" Casey shouts
"Hey! Leave my men alone!" Harper shouts as she smiles
"We do have the cleanest truck!" Casey adds
"Hmm debatable" Harper says as she laughs
"What's so funny?" Grissom asks
"None of your business gris" Harper adds before turning around to face him
"That's no way to speak to me! I deserve respect!" Grissom adds
"Don't think you've earned that yet" Harper says coldly
Grissom scoffs and looks Harper up and down
"Your actually the reason I'm here, as much as I hate to say this but you've been added to a list for a promotion" Grissom says
"What?" Harper replies thinking he's joking
"Yep! The mayor thinks you would be a good district chief" Grissom adds not too happy about the news
"Yeah well thanks for the offer gris, but take my name off the list" Harper says before walking back in
"That girl never appreciates anything!" Grissom shouts before walking to his car
Dawson and Casey go find Harper
"What was that?" Dawson asks
"What?" Harper says
"Oh just take my name off the list!" Casey says impersonating Harper
"Yeah I don't want to be a district chief!" Dawson says also impersonating Harper
"Okay! One I don't sound like that and two I just don't want the promotion!" Harper says
"Why not Harper! You would be a chief! A chief for god sake!" Dawson shouts
"I don't deserve to be a chief okay! I have done so many fucked up things when it comes to the CFD! I can barely manage truck! How am I supposed to manage a whole firehouse!?" Harper shouts
"Because your Harper Severide!" Casey adds enthusiastically
"Okay can we stop with this whole because your Harper Severide crap! I'm not special and I know that I'm not! God I'd rather be Gabby Dawson or Trudy Platt!" Harper yells
"You've come so far Harper! You started off as a paramedic! And now your a captain! Not to mention that your truck is number 1 on the ranks! That was all you!" Casey adds
"No that was you! I just needed to finish off your job" Harper adds before getting up and walking out
It's the end of shift and Harper gets in her car. She turns on the radio to hear her and Kelly's song(See Above) Harper smiles and starts to drive off. Kelly made this their song because of the line "Tell me when the light goes out, That even in the dark we will find a way out"
He thought that this was related to them getting stuck in a fire. And that even in the dark thick smoke they will always find a way out and back to each other.
"Maybe I can do this?" Harper says to herself....
