ALWAYS & FOREVER

CHAPTER 5

"Wait really, that is so great. I'm sure you won't regret this. He is an amazing man" ,dad almost jumps out of his chair. "I am going to call Sameer right now and tell him this. He is going to be so happy."

"Wait , slow down .Its not like I am getting married tomorrow finish your breakfast first. I am not going to get married if you stop taking care of yourself and moreover what if he doesn't agree to marry me? "

"Ok ok , calm down . And why do you think that he won't agree to marry you. Do you even know how many proposals for you I have rejected in the last 2 years." 

"What are you talking about ? And why is this the first time I am hearing about this?", I ask , I never knew people sent proposals for me.

"Come on. Its not like you were interested and they were not worthy of you anyways.", He replies nonchalantly.

Ok, wow. But he is right. I don't really care so its fine. We finish our breakfast and dad literally leaps out of his chair . "I am going to call Sameer now and give him the good news.", he says while hugging me.

Halfway out he yells, "Be ready at 12 tomorrow we are going to meet them"

I almost choke on my coffee "WHAT, that's so early and I am busy i can-", I try to protest but he already gone.

So I am going to meet to meet my so called in-laws tomorrow. Great 🙄.

 I am driving to the hospital when I realize that I have to tell Karan that I am getting married. He is going to flip out after he hears this but the is not the problem. The issue he we never stop teasing me . Uggghhh. Why am I even friends with him again? And how can I forget about Liz. She will,... honestly I have no clue how she will react.

I park my car and go up to my office. Today is busy just like every other day. I check up on some patients and assign the interns to their respective stations. By the time I finish all my rounds is 7pm . I can finally go home now. Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE my job but sometimes it is just soo tiring . I lean back on my chair and sigh in peace. Just then the door bursts open and I look up to find Karan with a grin plastered on his face.  He comes over to me and hugs me,

"I missed you so much bestie"

"I cant say the same for you and you saw me like yesterday", I retort but hug him back nevertheless.

"You wound me but anyways tell me what have you been up to anything interesting happened?"

"Ohh, you mean since I last saw you which was just like 24 hrs ago...nothing much really I just agreed to marry some guy dad found for me and today work was hectic the inter-"

His eyes widen ,"Wait, back up...... WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY"

I act like I dint just drop the marriage bomb,"whaaat mee?, I just said that work was hec-"

He cut me of,"the one about marriage if i heard that right"

I sigh and finally say."I may or may not have agreed to marry some guy dad might have chosen for me."

His eyes widen and his jaw drops open and then oddly he starts jumping up and down like some fan girl,"Omg omg ,....you are getting MARRIED, this is so cool, i am so happy for you. Tell me who is the unlucky guy. "

"I don't know ".I reply honestly.

"you don't know who the guy is and you are going to marry him...wow..that is a whole new level to arranged marriage , aren't you supposed to meet each other or at least look at his bio data or something. ",He looked amused.

"You think this is funny. I am not interested in marrying anyone. I promised dad , he said it is his  last wish and plus he was so sad cuz you know what today is, I couldn't say no. We are going to meet them tomorrow ."

 His expression softened ,"If you are not ready I'll talk to uncle . You don't have to get married to him just because you fell pressur-"

"I'm not its fine , will you come with me tomorrow when we go to meet them?",I ask

"You know I want to be there for you but remember , I have to go to Pune tomorrow to finalize the contract for with the builders."

"Right . I completely forgot that was tomorrow . Its fine how what's the worse that can happen?", I try to lighten the mood but looking at his expression I know that I failed.

"You know I love you but I am not falling for your act. Its ok to be sad given everything ", he says seriously.

He knows me better than anyone. "I know, I'm fine , Honestly. Now stop worrying about me and looking all serious , it doesn't suit you.", I say and he chuckles at that.

"Are you heading out now?". he asks.

"Yeah, I was just going home."

"Great me to , grab your stuff , I'll wait for you near the elevator."

I nod and collect all my belongings and meet Karan near the elevator. We head towards the parking together talking about random stuff.

I bid him goodbye and went towards my car. I sit in it and head home, secretly dreading tomorrow's meeting.
