{Alani's POV}

Ash Donne

The caller ID is clear on my screen. Where has this kid been? And why call now? I glance up to see Aspen's dark brown eyes looking at me curiously. 

"Sorry starling, this is important." 

With those words, I get up from the chair and rush out of her room. I find Sorin's and storm in without knocking, it's okay though, we're best friends. He is sitting on the edge of his bed with his head in his hands. The sight makes me furious. This is all Caspian's fault, I cant believe I tried to defend him to Aspen. I need to save these thoughts for another time though. 

"Sorin, get your act together, Donne's calling." I say and Sorin's head shoots up in surprise before quickly composing himself.

"F*cking finally. Answer." Sorin demands.

I quickly answer the phone and put it on Speaker.

"Donne, where are you?" I say, trying to keep cool.

"Look, I know you guys have been trying to get ahold of me. I called to say stop. The plans are being finalized, my role here is crucial now and I cant have you blow my cover."

"The f*ck Donne! You call to say sh*t like this and expect us to leave you alone now? Explain." Sorin demands, getting agitated. 

"I'm here to stop it but you cant get involved, it's too risky." Donne replies.

"What is too risky? The f*ck are you talking about Donne?!" Sorin shouts.

"Just stop calling, leave me alone. I'll make contact once I've finished." 

"FINISHED WHAT?!!" Sorin shouts, but it's pointless. Donne hangs up.

"What is this kid doing?" Sorin looks at me expectantly.

"How should I know? that's the first I've heard from him in weeks." I reply defensively.

"Get your phone to Kylo in tech, see if he can trace the call. We need to find out what the f*ck this kid has gotten himself into." Sorin says with a disapproving head shake. I move to leave his room but before I reach the door, I turn back around.

"I know you're not okay man. I'm not okay when you're not okay." I tell him honestly.

"I'll be fine, just go." He says, plopping back on his bed.

"Your smart, you can outsmart Caspian. Find a way to talk to her." I urge him. Sorin's eyes hold a glimmer of hope at my words.

"I'll try." He says. I nod at him and exit his room.

{Aspen's POV}

Did Alani just say Donne? As in Ash Donne? I must be hearing things, there is no way they could be connected. Alani's face holds concern and confusion by this Donne who is calling him. I try to peer over to see the actual caller ID but before I can, Alani looks up at me. 

"Sorry starling, this is important." Alani says and quickly rushes out of my room, leaving me a mess of confusion.

Did he just call me starling? That's new.
