C H A P T E R 8

(Muichiro's pov)

1... 2... 3...

3 weeks...

Where are you Y/n?

I walked into my house.

The back door was left open.

Somebody was here.

A soft voice hummed, in fact, a very familiar voice.

At first, I slowly dragged my feet, but as soon as I recognized who it was, I ran out.

My heart felt 2 different emotions, mixed at the same time.

A h/c girl stood up, facing her back at me, and looking up at the night sky.

She turned her head towards me.

Her e/c eyes reflected on the glittery stars.

She was wearing no face covering?...

Why hide such a beautiful face?...

Then it hit me.

"Y/n?..." I whispered softly.

"Muichiro-san." She cheered joyfully.

I could feel my body in motion.

Why did I do this? I don't know.

I held her into a tight embrace.

She patted my head and said,

"Wake up my love. It's time for you to get back out into the world."

"W-what?"

I could feel her body disappear from my arms.

"Y/n... wait-"

I gasped for air.

My eyes opened.

I was back into reality.

There I was, laid onto the hard cold ground, injured badly.

I could feel my wounds cut deep and leaking blood.

It burned.

Why did I agree to this stupid mission?

I'm pretty sure they've all forgotten about me.

No one was here to save me.

I'm sure Y/n would've came... I know she would.

Even after killing a mountain piled amount of demons, I still didn't feel the pride and joy.

My body is so sore right now... I think I'll get some rest...

I hugged my legs, as if Y/n were here to hold me, and closed my eyes shut.

"Don't worry Muichiro! We're here to save you!" A bright voice called out.

We?

That was it, just before I went into a deep sleep.

The sounds around me became more clear.

A breeze swept in from the open windows.

Birds sang.

The sounds of swords clashing.

And chatter filled the hallways.

My eyes finally had the urge to open up.

I stared at the ceiling with a blank expression.

A Kakushi jumped, it wasn't Y/n though.

"L-let me go get some assistance!"

I continued to zone out, until the sound of the door sliding open snapped me back into reality.

"Ahh Muichiro! How are you feeling?" Shinobu grinned.

"I'm... fine." I replied.

"Mmm, well your healing pretty fast, so you'll be okay soon."

The door slid open again.

I didn't bother to look at who it was.

"Look who we have! A special guest!" The insect pillar said, clasping her hands and jumping up from her chair.

"Muichiro-san." A voice greeted.

I hummed in response.

My brain finally functioned.

I quickly turned turned my head.

"Y/n."

"I'll let you guys have a moment!" Shinobu says as she leaves the room.

I watched Y/n sit next to me.

"Are you okay?" She asks.

I could hear... sadness and pain in her voice. It hurts me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Y/n?"

"Hm?"

"Why were you gone for so long?"

"The mission took longer than I expected. Sorry."

"Oh okay."

Y/n just looked down, like she couldn't even look at me.

Did I do something?

Did something happen while I was gone?

Was she hurt?

It was quiet.

Neither one of us said something.

"I gotta go clean. See you." She said, in a low tone.

"Okay."

Since when did our bond break?
