When a knock on the front door sounded, she opened the door to reveal Edward.

"Jake is getting them ready right now", she said, knowing that he was there to get the children.

"Leah is on her way to the main house. She's going to take Jace to her house to Seth."

He paused.

"Are you feeling alright?"

"I'm fine", she said and waved her hand in a dismissive way.

Edward read her thoughts.

"You never spoke that language before?" he asked.

"I never even read a word from it. How is it possible that I can now? And me talking about my mother in my sleep? When I really don't remember her? Why did I forget in the first place? Everyone has at least a handful of memories from their childhood. I have none", she ranted.

He touched her shoulder and squeezed it gently.

"Calm down. Jake will have a fit when he comes down and sees you like this."

Destinee sighed.

"Sorry. It's just..."

"Strange. Maybe something triggered this", Edward suggested.

"Maybe. But I don't know what."

"It could be that your younger self pushed them back. Maybe something happened that you wanted to forget."

Fast footsteps turned their attention to the stairs.

"We're ready to go!" Jake yelled when he and the children came running down the stairs.

"I'll see you two later", Destinee said to their children

Jake lifted Jasmine first and Destinee gave her a kiss on her forehead. Jake set her down and lifted Jace up next, Destinee giving him a kiss on his forehead as well. Jasmine jumped into Edward's arms, while Jace grabbed his right hand. The went out the door and Desti turned to her husband.

"Will you be okay?" Jake asked and cupped his wife's face.

"It's only going to be a few hours. The main house is not far away and if I need anything, I'll call you or them. But what could happen?" Desti said.

Jake smiled.

"Alright."

He kissed her lovingly.

"But seriously, if anything happens, from paper cut to labor, call."

"Yes, wolfie", she said laughing.

Jake knelt in front of her and put his hands on both sides of her belly. He pushed his head beneath her shirt. Desti laughed when his hair tickled her.

"Even if I'm only gone for a few hours, you be on your best behavior. Your hear me DJ?" he said to the belly.

He pressed a kiss to her belly and rose to his feet again. His hands wandered to her butt and he pulled her closer. His lips met hers in a deep and slow kiss. His hands squeezed, one sliding past her pants. Jake turned his attention from her lips to her neck, as he gently nibbled and sucked on her skin.

"Jake, as much as I want you to continue, you should really go. They're most likely waiting", she mumbled.

He released her neck and nuzzled her jaw.

"We will continue this tonight", he whispered into her ear.

Desti shuddered as his warm breath hit her skin. He kissed her one more time and nibbled at her lips for a few seconds, before leaving through the door and closing it behind him. Destinee put a hand over her heart and tried to calm her breathing. She kept standing there for a few more minutes.

"Tonight", she whispered.

Her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and answered.

"Hello?"

"Desti. Read the book", she heard Alice's voice.

"The book? You mean the book that was in the package? Did you have a vision?"

"I did. After you read it, you looked relieved, like you found answers", Alice replied.

"Okay. Thanks", Desti said and ended the call.

She went into the living room and took the book into her hands. She opened the first page and her eyes widened at the smaller font. She skipped a little through the book and realized that every page was mostly printed in that size.

"That's going to be a long way", she mumbled.

She came only as far as a few pages, when she sighed and looked at the clock. It was midday and Desti wanted to have some company. She texted Rosalie that she was coming over. After she replied, Desti got dressed, tugged the book into her jacket and marched to the main house. On her way there, she was thinking about the part of the book that she had finished reading. She was still in thought when she arrived and entered the house.

"What is it?" Rosalie questioned as she noticed her friend's confused expression.

Desti revealed the book.

"This book was in the package yesterday."

"Is it interesting? By the way who is it from?"

"I don't know who send it. But it surely is interesting. It's about my kind", the young woman replied.

"What now? Are you sure?" Esme questioned as she joined them, a plate with salad in her hands.

"Yeah."

"The Volturi maybe?"

"I already thought of that. But nothing is even hinting at them. That's not their style to send something like that."

Carlisle and Jasper had come down once the word 'Volturi' fell.

"But who else could have send it? Who else around us has knowledge of her kind? It can't be any of the humans", Jasper noted.

"Desti, is there anything in that book that could answer at least some of our questions? Not just who send it, but also what kind of powers your kind has and what happened to them?" Carlisle asked.

Destinee shrugged.

"I didn't get that far. I just finished the first chapter. It's all in small font, so it might take a while until I've finished it. I'll keep you updated on that."

Esme handed her the salad and they went into the living room. Rosalie put in a dvd. The women got comfortable while the men went hunting.

Some time passed since then and Jake had noticed a new change with Destinee. He was talking to Edward about it. Rosalie and Carlisle we're close by, Rosalie in the kitchen and Carlisle on the couch, reading a book.

"She's been acting stranger. She mostly reads in that book now, from morning to night. Then she goes to sleep without having done anything else. She always has this strange look on her face. It has been going on for two weeks now. The kids are wondering where she is. They miss her. I miss her."

"She has to read it. I have a feeling that it will help in the future", Alice said as she came back from hunting with Jasper.

More of the family gathered in the living room.

"It must be exciting for her. After all, she is finally learning more about herself. She didn't know anything before and now she gets the chance. Once she is through with that book she will be back to the person we know", Esme concluded.

"I think that depends", Emmett threw in.

"On what?" Jake wanted to know.

"What's in that book."

"You really think it could be changing her?" Jasper asked.

"Let's hope not", Jake mumbled.
