20 ~ Blood Brothers

"Okayyy," Chase drawls out. "Tristan is good with snipers right?"

"Yes. The best," I confirm. He nods writing shit down on his clipboard.

"Good. Him and Alex can be our marksmen," Chase says. "Alright if AJ and Zach are our strongest fighters we'll need to split them," Chase explains.

"Okay. How many teams?" I ask.

"Three. Alex and Tristan will be separate and... I'm assigning you as group leader for one group," Chase says. A wide smile spreads across my face as my eyes light up.

"Hell fucking yes!" I exclaim. Carmen and I were always forced to be co-leaders. Even though I'm 100% better, Carmen is more "responsible." Plus our dad said teamwork makes the dream work. Like we are 12 year olds playing soccer.

"Okay. Well after last night I'm not putting Zach and Shawn on the same team. At least not till they get over their 10 year old bullshit," Chase explains.

"Well that means he's with you. Shawn is always on my team," I state my opinion.

"Okay. Do you want Angela," Chase asks.

"Hell no. Wait," I say thinking. Do I really want him with Angela? Well, no. I don't want her. Plus it's not like I'm with Chase. He can do what he wants. "You can have her," I tell him.

"What skills does she even have," I ask. "Besides running away and screaming like a little girl." Chase raises a brow at my choice of words. "Yes, I said little girl. Sexist or not I don't care. Answer," I demand.

"I don't know. Bow and arrow or something," Chase jokes. I laugh imagining Angela using a bow. She'd probably break a nail and cry.

"I need Dylan on my team," I tell Chase. He looks up at me weirdly. "I'm serious. Just put him on my team." Chase scratches the back of his neck thinking.

"Do you like him," he asks. I break out into fits of laughter.

"Yeah right. Just friends," I reassure.

"Alright. Dylan on team Knight," Chase says.

"Ugh I need a nickname. Knight is so eughuk," I utter, making a weird sound. Chase bursts out into laughter at me.

"What kind of sound was that," he asks and I shrug.

"I don't know. A sound," I mutter. "Anyways back to business. If Zach is on your team that means AJ is on mine so who's left," I ask.

"Hendrix with me then. It's settled," Chase finishes writing on his notepad. "I'm counting on you not to do anything stupid," Chase says.

"Define stupid," I ask biting the end of a pen.

"Don't verbally agitate the enemy," Chass clarifies.

"Where's the fun in that?"

"Luck-"

"Okay okay. I'll try not to. But this mouth is like a treadmill. Once it goes really fast it's really hard to stop," I throw my hands up in the air.

"Yo boss!" I hear and turn around seeing Logan. "Ay Lucky Charms," Logan says, holding his hand up for me to high-five. I ignore it turning back around.

"Still mad I see. Okay well I just came to drop these off," he hands Chase two folders. One marked Blood and the other marked Knight.

"Ew, see it says Knight. Knight could be anyone my dad, sister, even my dead mother for fuck sakes," I argue opening up the folder.

"You'll get a nickname soon, Luck. Don't worry," Chase assures me. "I mean for now you have Luck," he tries to lift my mood.

"You're the only one who calls me that," I point out.
