Chapter 07 | If it talks, punch it.

Start from the beginning

She looked tired. Her hair was thrown in a messy bun and she had her leopard print glasses on today, a rare sight to see. She wore Nike sweats matched with my red and white checkered hoodie that I told her not to bother giving back to me seeing that she looked better in it than I did.

I could see that as soon as our eyes had met, she sucked a breath in. She stood there contemplating on whether or not she ignores my baby brother or risks it and talks to him while also being near my presence which honestly isn't even that bad.

She clearly chose the latter as she made her way to us, trying to force a smile on her face.

"Hey, little dude!"

And they just talked while I stood there, my intense gaze probably burning holes in her, trying to capture her attention but failing as she had just kept talking to him about his new book. I couldn't help but notice the bags under her eyes, telling me that she's having trouble sleeping again.

There were times throughout the year where Kalle would secretly come to my house and just sneak into my bedroom and sleep right next to me. The next morning would be quite the surprise to find the girl that my heart throbbed for was in my arms. She would always say the same thing every time it happened, "Can't sleep." Nothing else.

I always assume it's her parents and never bother much about it since it'll just get her upset.

"Well, I bet you and your brother have other places to go so I'll see you later, okay? Remember, if it talks, punch it," she says, winking during that last part.

She finally looks at me and taps her nose.

That would just be a simple, silly gesture between us to the normal person, but it was so much more than that. She hasn't used it in a while so I now wear a shocked expression instead of the stoic one I tried to do. I give her a simple nod as a simple way to tell her that I understood.

Over the course of our friendship, Kalle and I thought of some simple signals that only we would understand. Talking with your eyes doesn't always work. Tapping your nose meant parent trouble.

We've had others like three taps to the other person's back if you felt uncomfortable which always came in useful during the parties which weren't held by our school or people from our school. At least once in every out-of-town party, one of us would do that signal.

Then, there's morse code. We had to learn the most time-consuming one or I had to learn since she already knew how to. She insisted that I learn it since it would be helpful during tests which it really is although we only have two classes together this year.

After Logan gave her a goodbye hug, we headed inside the car and drove back home.

It didn't take Kalle too long to come by, I only had to wait for five fucking hours. It's nearly 11 PM when I finally hear my door creak open, indicating her arrival. My hair was damp since I just got out of the shower thirty minutes ago and I tried to dry it as soon as possible since I predicted lots of crying during this conversation.

She wore the same outfit that we saw her in at the diner, except this time I actually had a great view of her ass. She gives Captain America a run with an ass like hers.

"No shirt again?" Those were the first words that came out of her mouth as soon as I stepped out of my covers and over to the bay window.

I smirk at her. "It gets hot at night."

"I'm sure it does," she says, making her way over to me.

I surprise her as I embrace her in a knock-the-life-outta-you hug which she quickly returns while giggling. We stay that way for a few minutes, stuck in our own little world. This is a moment worth living for.
