Third Person POV

"Right this way, Mr. Ackerman." A nurse guided a young man through the halls of Maria Hospital. "Thanks." The man replies, following behind the taller nurse, holding a dog's leash. "(F/n) has been talking about how much she misses helping animals and volunteering, so we really appreciate you coming." The nurse named Zoë looks over their shoulder at the short man behind them. The raven nods, keeping silent as they continue their way to the patient's room. "Here we are! I'll let her know you're here." Nurse Zoë smiles, knocking on the door before entering. "Hello, dear! Mr. Ackerman is here with his dog!" They beam, waving the man over to enter the room.

Sitting on the hospital bed was a young girl, about eighteen, with the brightest (eye color) eyes. "Okay!" The girl grins, looking to the side and spotting the man and dog beside him. "Mr. Ackerman, this is (f/n)! And (f/n), this is Mr. Ackerman." Nurse Zoë introduces the two. "I'll be out there, if you need me, you know what button to push." The cheerful nurse smiles before exiting, shutting the door behind them. "Please, just call me Levi." The raven waves, looking at the girl on the bed. "Oh, okay! Who's this cutie?" (F/n) looks down at the beautiful black lab sitting next to Levi's feet. "This is Monet." Levi looks down at the dog as well, scratching his head. "Art lover?" (F/n) reaches her hand out for Monet to sniff, glancing at Levi. "You could say that." He replies, making her giggle as the dog licks her wrist.

"Go ahead and sit, make yourself comfy." (F/n) waves her hand towards the chairs beside her bed, petting Monet with the other. "Thanks." The man takes a seat, unhooking Monet's leash. The dog hops up on (f/n)'s bed after she pats it, smiling widely. Just this interaction made her feel better. "So... what are you here for?" Levi feels awkward, not knowing what to do or say. "That's one way to start a conversation." (F/n) teases, stroking Monet's ear with a chuckle. "Sorr-" The girl cuts him off. "Just genetic stuff, heart disease, things I can't control because I was born with problems. Nothing much." She shrugs, eyes on the dog. "Oh... I'm sorry for asking." Levi apologizes again, mentally cursing himself out. "Hey, it's okay. It's awkward being around someone who's helpless, I get it." She laughs dryly. "I've had more surgeries than I can count and another one in three weeks. They might as well keep me open for how often they feel like poking my heart." Levi is caught off guard by her sense of humor but it's lightening the mood.

Monet yawns and lays his head on (f/n)'s knee, enjoying her pets and cuddles. "Anyway, what about you?" The girl asks when the room is silent again. "Me? Well, this, I guess. This is just volunteer work. That and my uncle hates having the dog in the house so I got him trained and put to good use." The girl nods, leaning back. "It's nice of you to share him." She smiles. "Even if it's just for an hour." She adds, continuing to pet Monet's soft head. "An hour every other day. He already seems to like you so we'll be back." Levi notes, making her smile grow bigger. "I still appreciate it. I haven't been able to see my dog in months, being trapped here basically. I can't ever leave now." Her voice goes quiet towards the end. "How come?" Levi decides to ask, curious. "They just think I'll die at home or something else. By the time I recover from surgery they wanna operate again so there's no point in leaving, either. I had a fall a few weeks ago so that's also why I'm stuck in this bed. Can't move too much but I also need to move just enough to keep my heart going." Her life sounded so complicated to Levi. It had to be miserable.
