Ch 7: A Clarity of Ray

"And?" Young Ray prodded picking up his sword once more.

"Sir Gumball." Ray supplied.

"And... Sir Gumball." Zari added with a tight smile.

"Yeah, good, that's good." Ray praised. "Keep going."

"It's an honor, my lieges." Zari knelt down bowing her head. "Your lives are in grave peril we must away."

"Got it." A helicopter suddenly swooped down. "I repeat, subject has been located." Clarity winced as the spotlight shined in her eyes. She used her powers to rotate it so it was pointing away blinding the copter pilot instead. The helicopter flew out of sight crashing down somewhere.

"You lied to me." Kid Ray accused Zari.

"No, I didn't. I told you they were-" Zari began but she didn't get the chance to finish.

"There he is! Get him!" An agent yelled running through the bushes. Clarity staggered into a tree as the agent had barreled past her without a care. If she had fallen to the ground he likely would have trampled her.

"Hey, let him go." Zari ordered as another agent went to stab a needle into her neck. But Clarity stopped him using her powers to hurl the man into a tree. Gumball ducked into Ray's backpack in fright.

"Shit! Metahuman alert! I repeat there is a metahuman on site! This was not in the briefing. Sir orders?" A scared soldier questioned.

"Get the subject at all costs. No witnesses. I don't care what you have to do. We'll contain both threats. Make it happen." The head douchebag agent ordered.

"You're coming with us." Another agent grabbed onto Kid Ray. Sleeping darts shot at Zari and Clarity. But they all missed, Zari using her wind to deflect them and Clarity glitched through them.

"Leave me alone! Leave us alone." Kid Ray yelled as he squirmed being dragged to a ladder another helicopter appearing. "No! Clarity, help!"

"Did he just say Clarity?" Zari's eyes widened. "You never told him your name."

"No I Ah-" Clarity cried out in pain as a syringe was jabbed into her neck. Meanwhile Zari's totem was stolen right off her neck by another of the more smarter agents and he knocked her out with the butt of his gun.

Clarity dropped to her knees vision blurring the syringe doing its work. She squinted watching as Kid Ray, Gumball and Zari were taken onto a helicopter. Sweat dripped down her forehead as she fought the sudden feeling to pass out even as spots danced in her eyes.

"Fights over kid, stop resisting." A soldier tried to jab kid Ray with a syringe but it wasn't working. Young Ray was twisting, turning, scratching biting, kicking. Everything he could to keep the larger man away from him and Gumball. "You lost, cooperate we'll go easy on you."

"Wrong! My angel's still out there! She saved me before and she'll do it again!" Ray snapped kicking the needle with his foot it fell out the open copter door.

"Damn brat!" The agent snapped in anger holding his hand.

"Sir, we're being pursued." The pilot noted.

"Fire! Take her out!" The agent snapped.

"No!" Young Ray exclaimed as they fired missiles at Clarity who was leaping, glitching from tree to tree. Trying to catch up to the fast flying copter. Struggling to keep her eyes open her vision blurring.

"Oh no, you don't!" Clarity leapt from the tree top she was on pulling the helicopter down with her lightning. She flipped using her free hand to take hold of the electricity inside the missiles and have them crash together above their heads only the missiles hadn't flown high enough. The force of the blast sent her hurtling into the copter, knocked unconscious. So much for the rescue, the scientists now had them all. Gumball and Clarity were taken to the gymnasium both strapped down in restraints that held them by their wrists and ankles. Given drugs to keep their special abilities suppressed.
