Chapter 6: Unexpected Visitors

I finally reached home, mood ruined after meeting Scorpion dude earlier. He is so damn annoying. He needs to learn to leave others alone. My mood suddenly became good when I saw the cutie in my apartment. Uncle Asher held a 2 year old boy in his arms when I got to my apartment. I hang my coat before joining them in the living room. I was not expecting to see a kid in my place and especially in the arms of my goofy uncle.

"Whose child is this?" I ask him, looking at how cute he is. I take the toddler from him and smile at him widely. He doesn't smile but leans forward, resting his head on my shoulder. He looks to be around 2 yrs old. He is so cute and I couldn't resist pinching his soft cheeks.

"Mine obviously," Asher said, making me roll my eyes.

"He looks nothing like you," I pointed out, "I'm serious. Whose is it?"

"Aiden's," Uncle Asher answered, making me snap my eyes at him.

I have not seen my brother in years and have no idea what's going on in their lives till now. They have always kept things to themselves and do not want me to worry about them, afraid it will make my condition worse than it already is. I can't believe this little cutie in my arms is Aiden's kid. I can't believe I'm already an auntie!

"Louisa meet Silas," Asher introduces us, "Silas, meet Louisa."

I glare at Uncle Asher, correcting him, "It's Aunt Louisa, Grand-uncle Asher."

"Grand? Damn, I feel old," Uncle Asher groans, going into the kitchen. I carry Silas in my arms, following after Uncle Asher, having so many questions I need answers to. I'm happy to see Silas here, but I just want to know what brings him here. How did he get here? And who is the mother? Did they get married and not invite me to the wedding? What important events have I missed out on?

"What are you not telling me?" I ask Uncle who was drinking water.

He shrugs, "Nothing."

"Lies," I shake my head at him, "Aiden has a son. I'm only finding it out now. What else has happened that I don't know about? Where is he anyway?"

"Look, some questions are better left unanswered. It is to keep you safe and good. They don't want to stress you," Asher replied, trying to make me understand. But I'm tired of being left in the dark. I have lived my life away from home, the best they could do is at least let me know what's going on. We're family after all. Communication is key.

"I am already stressed and I get even stressed when I don't know anything," I said, glaring at him before smiling down at Silas who has no idea what's happening.

"I don't know much too," Asher runs his hand through his hair, saying, "Aiden told me that I should keep an eye on Silas till he comes back for him. So while he's here, you'll be taking care of him."

"Why me?" I ask him.

"He specifically said you," Uncle Asher smirks, walking away, "Oh this should be interesting to see."

"You literally just said that Aiden told you to keep an eye on Silas," I look at him.

"I'll watch you watch over him. Does it look like I'm good at handling kids?"

"Huh?? Where's my brother though?" I ask, following him to the door.

"I'm going to buy milk. Your brother bought so many things, but forgot the most important thing. Be back," He waves tiredly, walking out of the door, leaving me alone with Silas who could cry suddenly if he wanted to. Let's just hope he does not. I'm not ready for that.
