Ben and Mal spent the rest of the night together on the dance floor; laughing, smiling, talking and dancing. Nobody not even Ella made Ben feel like this. He felt pure happiness.
Ben was looking at Mal in complete awe. It was like they were the only two people in the room.
" Thank you for tonight, Mal " Ben smiled
He smiled gently at her and she returned the smile
" I hope we can hang out again, I need to see you again " Ben said holding her hand
" We will " Mal said confidently " I'll make sure of it "
Ben pulled her into a hug. It was like a goodbye hug. She looked so beautiful. Soon they both saw themselves leaning in for a kiss but they were interrupted
" HEY " the stranger called out
Ben and Mal pulled away and turned and faced the man.
" YOU " He pointed at Ben " STAY AWAY FROM HER!! SHE'S MINE "
Mal rolled her eyes at her fiance.
" No I'm not " Mal replied
She was tired of being treated like an object or a prize to be specific by him. She didn't even know why she liked him or agreed to marry him.
" I'm not a prize to be won " Mal turned towards him
" He's engaged, Mal. Your engaged.. remember " Spencer said before turning to Ben " know your place, stay in your lane "
Spencer grabbed his fiancee's hand and tried to drag her out of the ballroom. She wouldn't budge.
" MAL " He scolded
" You can leave " she replied coldly " I'm not stopping you "
" what's caused this? We were happy before you met this home wrecker " Spencer had an angry look in his eye. Ben remained silent watching how the arguement was unfolding between the young couple.
" Ben's not a home wrecker. We are just friends but he's taught me that what we have is not love "
Spencer stood there in shock
" You're not thinking straight, c'mon "
" C'mon what? For the first time I am. I'm sorry Spencer but I can't and won't marry you. Find someone else. Someone who loves you because that person is not me " Mal sighed before returning the ring and leaving the ballroom
" MAL " Ben called after her
Ella came towards him as he was about to leave
" Hey Bennybear, I missed you " She kissed Ben
He didn't return the kiss. He knew from his night with Mal that Ella wasn't the one.
" You've been ignoring me all night. It's our night. Come with me and let's dance " Ella pulled him away in the opposite direction away from Mal; his true love
