Chapter 21

“Are you taking the offer?” Venisse asked while sipping her cocktail.

“Yes, of course.” Walang pag aalinlangan kong sagot. Her brow arched and looked at me with all out accusation. “The Million offer is good. It would be a great loss if I take it down.”

We were on a video call for a while. Nasa Vietnam siya para umattend ng pageant at maging husgado. It’s been seven…eight years since I was blown away by that place. I fall in love which also leads me to heartbreak. After so many years, I’ll be back on that certain place to do this work, to be the ambassadress of their wine and advertise the newly constructed resort.

I left the Hacienda Del-cojuanco with shattered heart but also carrying  luck with me. Nakuha ko ang sangkap na kailangan ni Lola kapalit ng malaking halaga mula sa costumer niya. That money help us start a small business and continue my schooling. I took a two-year course and decided to go abroad. Doon ako nadiskobre ng talent manager ni Venisse, isa sa pinaka-sikat at tinitingala sa larangan ng showbiz. 

Luisito , our manager, isn't just famous in the Philippines but also around the globe. He’s very rich and the heir of an expensive perfume brand and eyeglasses. Rich and alone, Lulu or Luisito decided to do what he really wanted, managing talents, entering the Showbiz Industry.

Venisse at a young age is his first talent and the most well-known.  Having a very beauty face, nakuha agad ni Venisse ang puso ng lahat. After so many years, ako naman ang naging talent niya. Lulu’s wide influence put me fast on the top, just like Venisse and Ethereal.

Nagsimula ako sa commercials, dito agad sa United States. Nagkaroon pa ako ng ibang commercials sa ibat-ibang bansa para lang mabilis akong makilala. Ganun ang naging paraan ni Lulu. Whitening soaps, vitamins and detox coffee, these are my first commercial offer, all about about skin glowing products, taking advantage of my natural born snow skin.

My plan of going back to the Philippines delayed. A friend help me enter the modeling agency too. Sinuportahan parin ako ni Lulu ng sabihin kong papasukin ko rin ang pag momodelo, walang naging problema ‘yon sa kanya. Sinasamahan niya pa ako sa mga screening at photoshoot. 

I can say that my process into modelling is a bit lighter than rough. My friend was in the industry for a long time, ahead of me. They taught me the things I needed to know and guided me in my journey.

After two years of hard work, my name begun to be notice by the public. Gano’n kabilis. Naging usap-usapan ako sa pilipinas. Kung gaano sila kaproud na may isa na namang Pilipina ang nakikilala sa ibang bansa. People are hyping about that, which help spread my name to be known more. 

Pag-uwi ko ng pilipinas, binigyan na agad ako ng offer maging bida sa isang teleserye, pero kinailangan kong tanggihan. My schedule become so hectic since more brands are offering their gratitude, to model their brands. Pwede na sa akin ang mas maliit na role, hindi kakailangan na nandoon ako palagi sa set.

After years of doing my thing In show business, I travel here in Paris, modeling for bigger brands. That’s how my years passed by so well. 

Way back then, I never imagined that this might be the future ahead of me. It was far from who I planned before. My heartbreak and failure lead me now, my success.

Noon, ang simple lang ng pangarap ko… Napakasimple at imposibleng mapunta pa ako sa ganitong sitwasyon ng buhay. To marry and build a family with the man I love. To graduate from college and help my grandmother. ‘Yan lang ang pangarap ko….noon.

“She’s taking the bait, Venisse.” Si Ethereal, kaka-in lang sa video call.  

“I’m taking the offer.” I corrected it. “That’s different.”
