"Mom?"

Right when I was about to knock, I heard loud noises on the other side of her bedroom door. She's with a man again. There's no point in trying to get her attention.

I returned to my room and laid down, trying to sleep, but the noises coming from down the hall prevented me from doing so. They were very loud and disgusting to listen to. I sat up and went through a small bag of clothing I had in the corner of my room and took out an old apron. Returning to my bed, I laid down on my side, using the apron to cover my ears and cancel out the disturbing noises, but my attempt failed.

I pressed the thin cloth more and more onto my ears, trying my best to think of something else to not hear my surroundings. As the minutes went by, I noticed that it finally went silent. I moved the apron off me and realized it had stopped. Finally. I got as comfortable as I could get and felt myself beginning to fall asleep.

A year went by and Laura continued providing her services. She would come to realize that there was one customer in particular that would often come to the house to see her.

One day, the man was on his way to the house to meet Laura, however, through one of the small windows, he saw a young girl walking inside, into a room. After he was let in by Laura, he asked her about the you g girl, to which she revealed to him that she has a daughter.

Ever since then, when Laura would disappear for several days, he'd creepily stalk the house, watching Y/N's movements...Y/N being completely unaware of his presence.

When Laura returned days later, he went to see her again. After their session, he suddenly asked her,

"How much for your daughter?"

She sat up from the bed and looked at him, surprised. She thought about it for a few moments, then suddenly grinned and asked,

"How much do ya have?"

He smirked. The two then proceeded to make a deal, arranging for the customer's special session.

...

It's my 10th birthday...I think. Ever since I've been able to read numbers and understand the calendar, the first date I figured out I made my birthday.

I got up from my bed, then felt pain fill my stomach. I hope to see some food somewhere.

I stepped out of my room and to my surprise, there was some bread and water on the table. I grabbed a slice, had some water, then returned to my room and kept teaching myself how to write. I've been getting the hang of this. My handwriting's getting better and better the more I practice. Ever since I was about 7 years old, this girl comes around my house every so often. She was very odd to suddenly come up to me and start going on about her research, but slowly I grew used to it. She even brings me these writing utensils, newspapers, and even a small journal to practice in.

I don't know her name, but she's the only person I know who wears glasses.

...

I got up from my bed, stretching, taking a break from reading and writing. Mom isn't home. I'm gonna sit outside for a bit. I left my room and went outside, sitting on the flat concrete ground. I looked around me, letting out a gentle sigh. I'm used to seeing people commit crimes in my neighborhood...heck, even I've been tempted to steal so I can get food, but somehow I've managed to hold back. Whenever I've felt the need to, the girl magically appears and occasionally brings me something to eat...as if she knows.
