"So you met her yesterday day?" Sambayya asks me with way more enthusiasm than he generally has.

"Someone's very chirpy today.." I say with a sly smirk, trying to tease him.

"I wonder who. Whatever, I'm sure I told her that I would be on leave."

Oh. You did now?

"Oh?"

"Hm. Maybe I'm mistaken." He withdraws.

"What is the probability of you letting her know?" I ask and then again speak before he could answer "it should be either less than 45% or more than 55%" I warn him.

Sambayya being the elder one often tries to be as modest as possible. So if I ask something related to his remembering capacity, he claims a "50-50" position. Sure, a probability. But very annoying.

"Uh... 44%?" He says, with a weird grin, that only he can pull off. I sigh as I fall back in my chair. Two possibilities. She either knew or didn't. The latter doesn't pose problems. The first.. is the real thing.

If she knew he was not coming yesterday, what was her reason to visit the station?

Where was she standing when I caught her inside the station?

"Did she come to see you, Sir?" Sambayya asked while a naughty glint was playing in his eyes.

The problem with the elderly is that.. they are the earliest ship makers. Whenever two people of opposite gender talk, they ship them, unless they know that they are siblings.

But thinking that she came to see me would be naive of me.

Though it feels nice, it's still naive.

"The coffee you bought was nice, Sambayya."

A polite way of saying get the fuck out.

He nodded his head and strode back to his desk.

Ugh. This is going to be a long day.

-

".. And then they pleaded for another date, on the grounds of Right to life. Seriously? I sometimes have a lot of issues with our constitution." She huffed as she sipped the tea, brought by one of the tea stall guys, while Sambayya and I were listening to her rants.

It's interesting when court sessions are narrated by her. She has a way with her words and actions, that makes things very intriguing.

Everything was fine, except, one thing was tugging me back. Making me doubtful of her. Even though the words I formed are one breath away, I can't seem to find them, when she's so happy, grinning ear to ear, in front of me.

She was here yesterday. Aware of the fact that Sambayya was on leave. Was she searching for something?

If she were here for me, even that would make things awkward between us. And the last thing I want right now is to push her away.

I need to put a subtle cut. Enough to bleed. But not very painful.

"Kiran, you came here yesterday for Sambayya, right? What was it about? Anything important?"

She momentarily pauses. Her gears turning to find the right words. A crimson colour splayed across her face and ear tips.

"I .. uh.. actually.." she visibly gulps, eyeing Sambayya while she does.

"I came for you. Yesterday." She admits.

Now.. that's awkward...

Sambayya excuses himself and went back to his desk, leaving me speechless, once again in front of this enigmatic woman. She's so full of surprises. Now I don't even know if she wanted to see me for her personal reasons or something else.
