The Program [Book Two of The Test]

Chapter Twenty

Plus, I was out of practice in the disrupting area as well, not like I ever had much practice anyway.

John bit at his lip. "Fine, how do we do that?"

"Well, what were you feeling when you disrupted the bear earlier? That would probably help." I replied, glancing at the ground, pulling a brighter green sliver of grass from the dirt and twirling it between my fingers. "Natalie said when I was disrupting, and I didn't realize it, it was because my emotions and feelings were overriding my thoughts. Like when Jack almost got hurt that one time, and I made the bears disappear."

"Yeah, I remember it, Lexi." He rolled his eyes, crossing his arms and leaning back against the tree. "You bit my arm. Kinda hard to forget that."

I huffed, snapping back at him. "You called me a freak. You had it coming."

"Whatever. Quit being aggravating and just teach me already." He hissed, causing me to frown and huff again. "You were mentioning how you disrupt, maybe i'm the same. What else did Natalie say?"

"Half the time, I don't even know. When Natalie talks about something she really knows, she tends to forget other people don't." I pointed out. "But I think it has something to do with how you were feeling when you disrupted. Or maybe it's different when both of us disrupt together. Because then, no offense, I literally felt nothing but the weird feeling going through me. For the most art it was just awkward."

"If it helps at all, I do have a reason for why I did it." John explained. "And it's a reason that I will fully explain to you once we get out of here." 

I started tangling my fingers together, the grass no longer there. "Yeah, whatever. It doesn't really matter now. What matters is that we find out how we made the program for the test restore itself, so we can be stronger again and not dying. And then we'll do my plan, which is..."

He smiled, reciting the words i've spoken to him about the plan. "Once we're stronger again, and we're both actually able to disrupt to our full abilities due to that, this time i'll help you disrupt the test. And this is because two disrupters working together are stronger than one. So, maybe this time will actually be the end for the test."

"And do you think it's going to work?" I asked.

"How am I supposed to know?" He smirked. "You've been a freak longer than I have, you should know this stuff better than me."

"Seriously, we're back to 'freak' again?" I sighed. "I thought we were friends now."

"And as your friend, I can not lie to you," He stated. "You are definitely a freak."

Hello all! How's everyone been? Good? Good. I'm sorry the chapter was short. This chapter was mainly just for the purpose of information and so I could update. I mean, I feel like i'm failing you guys with such short chapters, you know...but at the same time i'm failing you guys because I don't update this story as often as I need to.

I promise not to post any more chapters less than 2000 words from not on.

Anyway...i'm thinking of about ten more chapters left in this story(plus an epilogue) and then this kinda series will finally come to a close(with the exception of the short story book[that ya'll should seriously consider checking out because i'm going to start adding chapters from 'The Program' in different POV's in there] that will continue to be ongoing until I run out of ideas). Plus, just because it's been brought up to me, maybe a spin-off of some sort.

That means some major crap is about to go down, and many secrets will be revealed. I hope ya'll are ready for that.
