Clear It All

Chapter 24

ZHAO YUNLAN

Months ago, I witnessed how the world got destructed by different natural calamities.

I can clearly remember how dead bodies were scattered everywhere, after a huge flood.

I can clearly remember how infrastructures fell miserably as if it's made of styrofoam that got blown away by a soft wind.

I can clearly remember how I felt lonely inside a small unit. I was all by myself, cheering my own self to keep on going.

And I can clearly remember how a man in my dreams haunted me.

Everytime I wake up in the morning, I try to think of what that man looks like but I couldn't remember. In my dreams, he makes me feel stronger. He makes me feel loved. He makes me feel like I'm a special person.

But afterwards, those dreams did not haunt me anymore. I was glad, at first. As days passed, I longed for that man's presence. Until one day, I just found myself sleeping all day, hoping that I'll see him on my dreams.

Unfortunately, I did not succeed.

"Zhao Yunlan you assh*le!" I blinked a few times before looking at the person calling me.

It's Zhu Hong. She's wearing a red fitted dress that highlighted her curves.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"I'm hungry. Go get us food and stop being dramatic while looking at the emptiness." she said and the men next to her, laughed.

I did not complain. I just followed what she said and also took some food for myself. Huang Ren is celebrating his birthday today. Since I was invited, as well as Zhu Hong, Sang Zan and Lin Jing. We all went here together and now they're using me as a slave.

As I got back to the table where they are sitting, I handed them plates. I then sat back down on my seat and started eating.

Just moments after I started eating, someone tapped my shoulder.

I was hesitant to look at whoever this is, but ended up looking and Huang Ren is smiling at me with a woman standing next to him.

"Hey! Huang Ren the sh*t! Happy birthday." I stood up and hugged him. We were both laughing while hugging each other and he also threw curses towards me.

"I would like you to meet my girlfriend, Chen Kaixin. Chen Kaixin, this is Zhao Yunlan my 'ex bestfriend'." he formally introduced.

I reached for Chen Kaixin's hand and shook hands for a second.

Huang Ren then excused himself, together with Chen Kaixin. He said he needs to talk to other guests so he'll let me have my meal.

"That woman is gorgeous. Don't you think, Chief?" Lin Jing commented.

"I guess?" I unsurely answered.

"Zhao Yunlan, you're the only one left without a partner among us four. And your best friend, already got a girlfriend. When do you plan on having a serious relationship?" Zhu Hong stopped eating just to ask me that.

"Wait, Chief. What exactly do you want to have as a partner? I mean, your standards or type, you know?" Lin Jing asked.

Sang Zan was just looking at me while chewing a piece of meat.
